About this deal

People want less lecturers putting them to sleep and more quality presenters keeping them entertained and educated. A captvating storyteller can truly be the key difference between an audience that goes to sleep during a workshop and one that wants to stay late just to ask another question or two. Is the team I plan to bring together drawn from various level of the organizational structure (for example, managers, supervisors, technical analysts)? c) Make the 7Ps visible during the meeting. These reference points can help focus and refocus a group as needed. The Facilitator’s Guide: Although you certainly don’t have to use this, it’s a super powerful for those facilitator’s first starting out. The guide helps you take a deep dive into each of the exercises that you’ve laid out for your one-day workshop, including the day’s flow, specific questions to prompt discussion, and step-by-step exercise guides.

A full-day workshop can be daunting for both you and your audience if it’s just you and your slides. The key to making the workshop enjoyable and compelling is by getting your audience involved through activity or conversation. Two easy ways to accomplish this is to ask a question or passing around tasks that get the audience working together. Anything that allows you to take a break from telling your stories is where the magic starts to happen. If you don’t have the opportunity to facilitate in the workplace but want to improve your skills, consider volunteering as a facilitator for a nonprofit you care about. It is the best way to build confidence, learn how to adapt on the fly, and test your skillset in a low-stake environment, all the while contributing to a greater cause.

Special thanks to Katherine (and team) from customer service that helped me out to complete my full set. One of the most well known and undeniably useful processes for this is an OKRs workshop. Within a couple of hours, this technique creates radical focus on an objective and allows you to start actively measuring the progress you make towards it. b. Sprint Brief — The Sprint Brief is a more detailed version of the Workshop Brief that you prepared for the initial workshop. This would lay out the specific opportunity that you’d like to solve for in a bigger, weeklong design sprint, as well as laying out your vision for what that week may look like. Get your team to try it after an unexpected event or challenge to see the real power of what is – let’s face it – a pretty petulant-sounding way to speak to each other. It's also a point of differentiation. Most, if not all workshop resources out there are digital and free. I wanted to position Workshop Tactics as physical and premium. Every meeting deserves a plan. Note that a great plan cannot guarantee a great outcome, but it will help lay down the fundamentals from which we can adapt. The crux is that owning something tangible, beautiful and ever-lasting has enormous value. And the main driver of this value is intrinsic: to improve social status. Is the team cross-functional and representative of all the groups with a major stake in the outcome? d) Have a plan but always expect it to change. The 7Ps can give us a structured, repeatable framework for designing a meeting, but they cannot run the meeting for us. The unexpected will virtually always happen, and as workshop leader it will be your job to adapt and adjust! Opportunity Identified
