About this deal

If you are like me, and you loved “Every Last Fear” 5 ⭐️ And “The Night Shift” 4 ⭐️, you probably auto-requested this book, like I did, without even reading the synopsis.

This type of moral wound is increasingly considered distinct from conventional PTSD diagnosis, which is more closely associated with the biological, psychological and social after effects of exposure to fear and danger. I received AREs of What Have We Done from Minotaur Books in return for a fair review. Now, would you please tell that person who keeps following me to go away. Thanks, folks, and thanks to NetGalley for facilitating. Twenty five years ago, Jenna, Donnie, and Nico were the best of friends, having forged a bond through the abuse and neglect they endured as residents of Savior House, a group home for parentless teens. When the home was shut down–after the disappearance of several kids–the three were split up. At the top of a knoll through a break in the trees, five teenagers stand at the edge of a shallow grave. A light rain falls, thunder rumbles in the night sky. A small group of kids meet in at the very misnamed Savior House, a group home for teens without parents. The place is a house of horrors with bullying and inappropriate adult caretaking. And girls go missing, never to be seen again.A jolt rips through her. Inside the stall is a woman. She’s sitting on the toilet tank, her feet resting on the seat. Nico stars in a popular television show featuring coal miners. It’s a surprise hit but Nico, who has a desperate gambling problem, is regarded as a liability by the show’s producers. He’s not exactly sure how he ended up in the belly of the beast but somehow he comes to consciousness deep in the bowels of the coal mine. He knows he’s going to die but where there’s life there’s hope. It’s a change of pace from the last two books, but on its own merits I enjoyed it. I’m hoping it makes it to the big screen so I can watch it with my hubby. I’m pretty sure he’d like it!

Moral injury refers to situations whereby an individual transgresses their sense of morality, ethics or values, to achieve a real or perceived necessity, but which ultimately elicits in a profound sense of ambivalence, guilt and shame in it’s aftermath. For more than a decade, Anthony was an adjunct professor of law teaching courses in Federal Courts, Legal Rhetoric, and Appellate Practice, and he currently pa A highly entertaining, addictive thriller . . . Finlay [has] become one of the must-read voices in crime fiction today.”― Mystery & Suspense Magazine In the suspense/thriller genre, Finlay stands out for a couple of reasons. First, he uses multiple points of view to flesh out his plot and keep the pacing ultra-fast, while still being grounded and accessible. Second, he never shies away from a difficult scene, whether it’s an emotional arc that pushes his characters into totally new realms and opportunities for growth, or a particularly creative murder scene . . . . [ What Have We Done] is a fast-paced and suspenseful thriller with just enough emotional grit to make readers care about the characters along with the mystery.” —Bookreporter In this “top-notch mystery thriller” ( Publishers Weekly, starred review), What Have We Done is a tale about the lives we leave behind and the secrets we carry with us forever. The text is littered with the utterly tragic experiences of people who were put into dangerous situations, and had to make extremely difficult and complex moral and ethical decisions in life or death situations.

In spite of their early traumas, they all grew up to lead fairly successful lives. Forging their own paths, in a variety of different fields, far away from one another. Sure, I didn’t find the characters likable at the beginning or in the end. I didn’t see much redemption to their characters in the epilogue. But what I liked and would recommend this book for was the action/suspense/mystery.

Alex Finlay

I don’t know if the characters are really that likable but I was reading it for the suspense and mystery- what did they do when they were younger, who is hunting them now, and why? Alex Finlay proves once again he’s a master storyteller. What Have We Done has unrelenting action, inspired characters, and an innovative, pulse pounding plot. Alex Finlay has become one of today’s top thriller writers. This is why. Read this book.”— Robert Dugoni, New York Times bestselling author
