About this deal

The Tide to Go pen is designed for stains that have developed recently and are used to swiftly pretreat a stain before it can be washed.

Depending on the stain, and please note this won't work on everything, you'll get the best results if you can carefully remove any excess before getting at it with the pen. So, if it's a chunky Bolognese you've dropped (guilty!), get rid of the chunks before you get to the actual stain. The tip of the pen should really push into the pen, releasing the solution. 4. Rub the Released Solution Around the Stained Area Furthermore, magnesium sulfate, often known as Epsom salt, aids in the speedy drying of the region. The Tide pen works best on stains like bbq sauce, tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato juice, grape juice, coffee, wine, and many fresh food items and less so on protein stains like blood or grass. Once you're done using this instant stain remover, it is time to clean the garment. Here are the steps you should follow; 1. Treat the Stain Again (If need be) Rub the stain remover until the stain begins to fade or disappears completely. Make sure you're getting enough solution, gently rubbing the stain with the tip over all surfaces. For my next round of testing, I purposely soiled another white t-shirt with some common staining agents: lip gloss, canola oil, and tomato juice. I applied the Tide pen, waited a few hours, and laundered the t-shirt as normal on a warm cycle. My results were fairly successful. The canola oil and tomato juice were gone, but the lip gloss was still visible. I used the pen on another shirt that had collected splatters of ketchup and mustard. The pen had little to no effect on the mustard, but the ketchup stains faded significantly.

A cleaning solvent that, like ethanol, helps keep the surfactants liquid so they can infiltrate and remove the stain from your clothes’ fibers. But it also one-ups ethanol by dissolving oily material from the stain itself and doesn’t evaporate into so much vapor as soon as it leaves the pen. Typically, a couple of fast presses with the tip is enough to release enough solution. You don't need to press down all the time. Instead of pressing the tip down at an angle as if you were writing or rubbing the stain with the tip, press it straight down. But last week, I broke one out for a small stain on my shirt. I can't remember what the stain was, but it took it right out. Then I spent the next half hour trying to figure out what smelled so bad. I thought one of my children or cats had thrown up somewhere. I finally realized it was coming from my shirt! It smelled very strongly of vomit. I had to change my shirt and wash my skin underneath to get the smell out. The type of stain and how it sits on the particular fabric means that no two solutions may be the same every time, so treat each incident individually. Most items labeled as colorfast machine-washable or dry-cleanable should be safe to use with the Tide to Go pen. However, some textiles may be more prone to color shifts or other negative effects, so it's crucial to conduct this test first. 2. Remove Any Excess Residue from the SpillThe only downside to this pen is that it runs out, so don't get too tappy with the solution – you'll miss it when it's gone. I’ve used many stain removers and know there isn’t one miracle product on the market that will remove all types of stains from every fabric type. The Tide To Go Pen didn’t work on all stains, but it was effective enough for some that I recommend it. Even the stains that weren’t eliminated entirely still improved considerably. Since this pen has a small and narrow point, it is best for spot treatments rather than larger, ground-in stains.
