About this deal

the characters. where does one even start here… first off, i skipped all of kamran’s chapters except the first one (i skimmed through it) because he’s annoying af. i tried, i really did, to read them but he’s just too insufferable for me im sorry. there’s absolutely nothing about this character that hasnt been done before, he’s literally a combination of all basic tropes that are popular nowadays, and this amalgamation is not even well-done. Mafi’s] writing is nuanced and smart. Shirin and Ocean’s interactions are palpable, and the discussions and exploration of what it means to be a Muslim in politically charged America will resonate with many teens and will be enlightening for some.”— School Library Journal (starred review)

Cerebral, impassioned, and zeitgeisty... Mafi’s sincerity stands out in full force in her craftsmanship. A Very Large Expanse of Seais timeless in its themes and will continue to affect readers, months after they’ve closed the book.”— NPR Every time I read a word I giggled like a stupid crazy girl. This book gave me everything and I need to read the next book 😭. This book was what I needed. No honestly after reading the first book I thought this one would be disappointing too but guys this book was ᴇᴠᴇʀʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ( ͡❛ ₃ ͡❛).

Games

A masterfully constructed novel. The characters are beautifully developed and authentic. [Shirin’s] voice is fierce, funny, vulnerable, and honest. Mafi’s novel challenges readers to ponder their own beliefs, assumptions, and actions. And, also reminds us of the captivating bliss of first love.”— Nerdy Book Club Book Genre: Fantasy, Fantasy Romance, Fiction, Mythology, Romance, Young Adult, Young Adult Fantasy PRAISE FOR An Emotion of Great Delight:"Gorgeous and poetic, Mafi is unflinching in her rendering of pain and brutal truths, but also succeeds in weaving a tale that is brimming with heart and honest hope. This is a book I wish I'd had when I was fourteen. I'm so glad young readers will have it now. A truly special story." — Jasmine Warga, New York Timesbestselling and Newbery Honor-winning author of Other Words for Home I like 𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑧𝑒ℎ. In the first book, I didn't feel so much for her but in this book her character development was great. She can be a badass but she is soft-hearted too. I want to know about her in the next book. She is a very interesting character. The fact that she didn't know how to eat bread killed me but I understand why she didn't know it. And it breaks my heart.

alizeh. i liked her in the first book but in this one it was such a downgrade it’s actually insane. it seems that all her person does is either get sad about how she didnt want this destiny/prophecy/whatever and would rather look after sheep (legit what she said btw) or say “how dare you” to cyrus multiple times a day (or an hour, since, you know, the entire book is set during 1 day). think im joking? well i am not! i actually counted how many times she says “how dare you” throughout the book. wanna take a guess?

Tahereh Mafi has written a timely, compelling novel about love and family and the remarkably complex nature of religion and faith. An Emotion of Great Delightis as profound as it is beautiful." — Matt de la Peña, New York Timesand Newbery Medal winning author of The Last Stop on Market Street alizeh’s last chapter actually tore my heart out of my chest and stomped on it til that mf was unidentifiable and my gosh i can’t wait for tahereh mafi to do it again Mafi seamlessly works in questions of identity, race and Islamophobia [and] taps into the fierceness and passion of first love. The novel’s bittersweet ending will ring true for most, and break the hearts of many.”— New York Times Book Review Alizeh wants nothing to do with Cyrus, or his deal with Iblees. But with no means of escaping Tulan, and with the tantalizing promise of fulfilling her destiny as the heir to the Jinn, she’s forced to wonder whether she can set aside her emotions—and finally become the queen her people need.

This story holds a mirror up to the ugly reality of religious bigotry. That disturbing truth, however, is offset by a portrait of a strong Muslim teen girl who defies stereotypes on multiple levels. Shirin insists on her right to approach life on her own clear-eyed terms, granting compassion to the deserving and an education to those who need it.”— Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books Mafi’s intricate worldbuilding sets high stakes for the trilogy. The setting grapples with themes of discrimination and equity versus equality... Mafi’s slow-build story is braiding a complex plot that promises a payoff in the sequels." — School Library Journal Alizeh’s world is turned upside down when murderous Tulanian King Cyrus spirits her away, intending to marry her at the behest of the devil, Iblees. This story is so magical and transportive that I fully expected the book would know the moment I'd finished — within hours, no less — and promptly unravel into a pile of jewels and silks in my hands. Mafi's diamond-bright lyrical voice weaves a tale that is gilded in magic, laced with subterfuge, adorned with the brocade of a tortuous romance, and richly embroidered with Persian mythology. I cannot wait for more." — Roshani Chokshi, New York Timesbestselling author of The Gilded WolvesPDF / EPUB File Name: These_Infinite_Threads_-_Tahereh_Mafi.pdf, These_Infinite_Threads_-_Tahereh_Mafi.epub just read the first chapter on fierce reads..yall im dying. kamran is literally on the verge of death and he is thirsting after alizeh Alizeh wants nothing to do with Cyrus, or his deal with Iblees. But with no means of escaping Tulan, and with the tantalizing promise of fulfilling her destiny as the heir to the Jinn, she’s forced to wonder whether she can set aside her emotions-and finally become the queen her people need.

the plot. i was complaining to my friend earlier today about this book and when she asked me what even is the plot of the book i fr couldnt answer. alizeh becoming the queen of jinn? yeah maybe. alizeh & co fighting the devil? can be. there are little pieces here and there but there is no one big, interesting plot that would make this whole book worth reading. idk maybe the author wanted to focus on romance rather than the plot but if that’s the case then… i have already made my opinion on the romance aspect known lol.PRAISE FOR THE Shatter Me SERIES:“Written with precision and a sense of urgency, each chapter a strobe light–like moment in the lives of the teens trying to save their world. The prose oves readers swiftly from crisis to crisis.”— Booklist Online A Very Large Expanse of Seareads like a beautiful heart—one that shines and aches and yearns, and above all else, one that loves fiercely against all odds. Years from now, you will remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when you experienced this. A transcendent story about truth, love, and finding joy.”— Marie Lu, #1 New York Timesbestselling author of the Warcrossseries Mafi introduces some potent issues around whether passive resistance or confrontation is the better community strategy, and scenes of anti-Muslim aggression are brief but impactful." — Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books Kamran’s grandfather lays dead at the hand of Cyrus, ruler of the neighboring kingdom of Tulan. Cyrus has stolen Alizeh away to his homeland and plans to marry her there, giving her everything she needs to become the Jinn queen—and when she assumes the throne he will have fulfilled his own bargain with the devil.
