If she had chosen a foreign prince, he would have drawn England into foreign policies for his own advantages (as in her sister Mary's marriage to Philip of Spain); marrying a fellow countryman could have drawn the Queen into factional infighting. There is disagreement among historians over when exactly "the Terror" began. Some consider it to have begun only in 1793, giving the date as either 5 September, [3] June [4] or March, when the Revolutionary Tribunal came into existence. Others, however, cite the earlier time of the September Massacres in 1792, or even July 1789, when the first killing of the revolution occurred. [a]

After her character Lady Lola was beheaded by the Queen of England, Popplewell has landed a variety of roles including a voiceover in “The Left Right Game” podcast, and a role in the upcoming film, “Fairytale.” When Louis XVI was arrested, the Girondins agreed that the king was guilty of treason but declared that he should be exiled instead. The Girondins were immediately accused of supporting the monarchy and going against the Revolution, diminishing their popularity.

Introduction

Queen of Scotland Mary Stuart travels to France with four ladies-in-waiting to secure her politically strategic engagement to the king's son, Prince Francis. Mary and Francis share a mutual attraction, even though he has reservations about the wisdom of an alliance with Scotland. Complicating issues is Bash, Francis' illegitimate half-brother whom Mary finds herself drawn to in spite of herself. The French Court is also full of less romantic challenges for Mary, who finds her engagement -- and life -- threatened until she finds an ally in a mysterious shrouded guide. With all that she faces, Mary rallies, readying herself to rule and trying to find a balance between the demands of her country and those of her heart. This document collection on the reign of James I allows students and teachers to develop their own questions and lines of historical enquiry on the nature of monarchical power, challenges to the Church of England and the relationship between king and parliament. The documents are arranged according to themes which include James I’s extravagance; the Hampton Court Conference, the impact of Catholicism; union with Scotland, relations between crown and parliament, and the Spanish match. Again, for those students studying the civil wars which broke out in the reign of Charles I, this collection includes access a couple of documents which reflect the relationship Charles had with his parliaments.
