About this deal

He's also prone to shouting "I don't wanna hear it!" whenever someone criticizes him for something.

The narrator is Effie/Ephelant/Euphemia (1st person POV - she is in her late 20s). She has an older sister (Bean) and an older brother (Gus). Effie's relationship with her siblings and dad are a key part of the story. If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know I’m a huge Sophie Kinsella fan. While I haven’t read her Shopaholic series yet, I’ve read every one of her standalone novels. The Party Crasher is her latest, published in October 2021. Sophie was born in London. She studied music at New College, Oxford, but after a year switched to Politics, Philosophy and Economics. She now lives in London, UK, with her husband and family. Hidden Depths: He has surprisingly extensive knowledge of songs by The Beatles, being able to name seventy-six of them from memory by himself in under eight minutes while Brent, Vernias, and Sophist together are only able to name ten even with outside help. The Shopaholic series and other early Kinsella books are pure comfort reading for me and have been so special. I remember when and where I read many of them, and I’m always grateful to have a new one to read at just the right time. I’m happy to report The Party Crasher has the same zany fun and comfort I look for in an escape read from Sophie Kinsella.I found Effie more than a little annoying because her refusal to communicate with her loved ones and just ask for help literally leaves her scurrying around her childhood home during a party, trying not to be seen. Spicy Latina: Gender-Inverted. He certainly seems to think he's attractive (and not entirely without reason ), he's the most temperamental of the group, and he happens to be Chilean. Vernias' face ◊. Whenever Brent does some sort of editing or photoshopping with Vernias around, expect him to slip this in somewhere. If I am completely honest I was expecting The Party Crasher to be a hilarious romp. A laugh-a-minute book from beginning to end and whilst it was highly amusing it was far, far more than I imagined. It was a story of broken families, of a daughter feeling abandoned by those she cares about and having the only true home she has ever known ripped from under her feet, as well as a broken heart from an ex-boyfriend who she can’t help keep bumping in to. It is not made clear in this episode whether Marinette and/or Adrien are made aware of King Monkey's true identity. Master Fu may have simply retrieved the Monkey Miraculous personally.

The story of broken families is one many people across the world will be all too familiar with. Believe me, I know about them too. The book shows you how easily they can happen, and what it does to those involved. Miraculous New York • Miraculous Shanghai • Miraculous Paris • Miraculous: One Night Mission • Miraculous London • Miraculous Dakar • Miraculous Rio • Miraculous Tokyo To further the reference, Party Crasher's leitmotif bares a strong resemblance to the intro to "YMCA", Village People's most famous song. Deadpan Snarker: All four of them have indulged in sarcasm, dry humor, and snide remarks to varying extents. But she didn’t count the bouncer her sister Bean hired. As she hides behind rosebuds to show her dedication to Citizen Kane ( okay I made this up! She couldn’t find any better camouflage) she sees the traitor ex- her childhood sweetheart-her love of her life Joe who broke her heart 4 years ago- now a successful TV star, surgeon is also invited to the party. She thinks he owes her big by breaking her heart into million pieces and needs his help to distract the bouncer as she secretly sneaks inside.Wild Card: Sophist has the lowest technical skill level of the group, but in Mario Party he compensates by sowing utter chaos via randomized options or deliberate sabotaging (either to himself or to others) for "content." Excellent. OK, here we go . . .’ She sets up her iPad on the dressing table and we both watch a whizzy title sequence reading The one and only . . . . . . Tony Talbot! A still photo appears next, of Dad in his local Layton-on-Sea paper when he was eleven and won a maths prize. Next comes a graduation photo, followed by a wedding photo with our birth mother, Alison.

This story is charming and fun. Sophie Kinsella definitely excels at writing this type of book. I absolutely loved that the book is full of silly shenanigans. One video saw the Party Crashers and The Underdogs, another collaborative Lets Play group, compete against each other in a 4v4 crew battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. A Birthday, Not a Break: Aside from Brent, the remaining three members don't get to achieve a sweet Mario Party victory on their special days and each of them still suffers varying degrees of misfortune. Although I have heard of the author, I hadn’t read any of her books before. The story was described as joyful and romantic but honestly I didn’t find it to be either. However I thought it was well written, flowed well and was easy to read but I didn’t enjoy a lot of it. This is one of those easy reads that you can giggle along with, it’s certainly not my favourite book but it was one I made it all the way to the end of (I absolutely DNF - this means 'did not finish' - books).

I briefly survey the tree, standing in its usual alcove in the hall. Of course I’ve noticed it’s small. We usually have a huge, impressive, bushy tree, whereas this one is pretty puny. But that’s not my concern right now. I gaze at her pretty, wide-eyed face, feeling the weird sense of disconnect I always do when I see pictures of her, wishing I could feel more of a bond. I was only eight months old when she died, and three when Dad married Mimi. It’s Mimi I remember singing to me when I was ill, baking cakes in the kitchen, being there, always. Mimi’s my mum. It’s different for Bean and Gus – they have dim memories of Alison. Whereas I have nothing except family resemblance – which, to be fair, I have big-time. We all take after her, with our wide faces, strong cheekbones and eyes set well apart. I look permanently startled and Bean’s big blue eyes always seem questioning. Meanwhile Gus generally looks absent, as though he’s not paying attention (which is because he never is). About a month ago, Dad said he didn’t want presents this year. As if we were going to take any notice of that. But to be fair, he does have a lot of jumpers and cufflinks and things, so we decided to be creative. Bean and Gus have put together a video montage, which Gus has been finalizing, and I’ve done my own surprise project, which I can’t wait to show Dad. The Party Crasher highlights how complex people can be, and that you can’t really know everything about someone based on face value.
