About this deal

After the brief interview, Millie is overjoyed to learn that the job is hers. There’s only one rule: don’t bother the missus. Wendy, who has been staying in the guest bedroom, has been battling a chronic illness. Just needing some extra rest, Douglas says not to disturb her. But when Millie overhears crying coming from inside, her curiosity is peaked. All but TWO of my friends loved it, so I had to squeeze it in!! Unfortunately, I am in the same camp as the two who were NOT thrilled with it! 🤣 I got severe whiplash from the twistiest turns … Every time I thought I had it figured out… WRONG!!! … I am still reeling … outstanding … If you love a top notch psychological thriller that will have you questioning your own sanity , then this 5 star read is for you .” NetGalley reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ such a charmer🫦you all truly need to read this book and meet this man. he’s not only a charmer…he’s a lot of things🤭i swear freida has me absolutely swooning over this man🦋if freida writes a romance book…please just take all of my money🤌🏼 Nina has no agency at all, she's only good to be rescued by her super-hot, muscled, Italian stud, and even Millie shows no initiative at all up until the very ending.

i think these quotes sum up how i feel about this little girl. not only was she creepy, but she was such a little brat omg. My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the DRC of “The Housemaid's Secret”. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book. I will concede the first half of the book does move a little more slowly, largely to give the author the chance to drum up the mystery to her liking, to leave clues laying about for our benefit, and naturally, to create expectations which will subsequently be shattered. The author obviously takes great pleasure in misdirecting her readers and getting them caught up on red herrings, to the point where it felt as if she was challenging me directly. AMAZING!!!!!!!! … I absolutely loved it… I will remember it FOREVER!… Get ready for the ride of your life in a novel that you won’t want to end!!!!! ” NetGalley reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The dude Millie shot is not Douglas! The real Douglas is a schlubby goober and not the handsome-ish man Millie killed. Oh dear.

When she learns a dirty little secret about Nina's past and gets warned by the hot, candy-like landscaper Enzo, who unfortunately speaks only Italian, she realizes that by accepting this job, she may be putting her life in danger. Especially when it's so tempting to get seduced by Mr. Winchester, while his wife watches them like a jealous hawk, ready to tear her limbs apart. Oh, Millie, you've found yourself in another prison you can't escape, haven't you? I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband. However, little did I know that this would be one of the most gripping and enthralling thrillers I’d read for a very long time. I was expecting it to be a fairly weak reading experience but an easy story to consume and though the latter may be true, it most certainly was not a weak thriller. She is working in a fabulous penthouse apartment owned by a wealthy man. The home is immaculate, with little cleaning necessary, only cooking, laundry, and shopping for groceries. Her wages are generous. The man of the house has warned her never to enter his wife's room as she is ill. Of course, Millie's curiosity and contrary behaviour causes her to open that door. She encounters a badly beaten and injured wife, who she is anxious to help. Then we have Andrew Winchester. He makes a lot of money, is so very handsome, and seems to be a wonderful father and husband. Millie can’t stop herself from fantasizing about him. He seems perfect in every way to her and cannot understand why Nina isn’t over the moon about him. I do have to mention, however, that I didn’t quite enjoy this one as much as The Housemaid. Maybe because I didn’t know what to expect with the gaslighting and abuse (avoid both in this series if you’ve been the subject of either), but to a certain extent this sequel felt like a switched up retelling of the last book. Well, at the very least, the beginning did… The only other bit that bothered me was how far-fetched it felt. But if you’re willing to throw out your suspension of disbelief, it’s still quite the chilling (and thrilling) tale.
