As strange as it might sound, every single character telling their story is already dead. Some were old, others not that old. Some knew each other and others didn’t but whether they knew it or not while they were alive their lives had collided in some way somewhere in time. I know, I know, how can I say that there’s no supernatural elements in it if I want you to believe the words of the dead. Well, I guess you’ll have to trust me if I say that their voices are exactly like any other voice of a first person narrator. It works. It really does. And so well. Polje'' je jedna od onih knjiga koje prosto ne smeš da ostaviš na pola jer ćeš toliko toga propustiti, a ujedno i samu ideju ove knjige koja je u globalu potpuno drugačija i unikatna. Posle prve polovine mislio sam da knjiga nije ono što sam ja očekivao od nje, ali zato me je druga polovina knjige potpuno oduvala.

I had never heard of The Field before, and I could hardly believe how good it is. What a shame that it is so little known. The story starts out slowly but builds up to a climax that is perfectly logical, totally based on character, and awesome in its intensity. Lynne McTaggart – The Field – The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe, pg. 11. Bold emphasis added. What is good in this book, hence the 2 stars, are two things. First - I think that author has a very good potential to be a great narrator. The way he switches from character to character is unique and deserves respect. Second - the mall stories are the only worth reading, at least for me, and if I am generous, maybe the gambling story. And once you see that, you will see how your view of reality changes, allowing you to not only feel empowered, but to know you are empowered, and therefore act empowered. HOWEVER, it is clear that Lynne does not truly understand the scientific method in that she did not even attempt to establish her theory that "zero-point energy = life force" as an hypothesis. All she did was collect the references, and then say, "hey, it sounds to me that zero-point energy can explain this". This is fine as a popular book, but she is implying that her work is scientific because she got her references from scientists, which is a fallacy. Also, she kept saying "I can't really understand the science and the scientists had to speak to me in metaphors". Hmm... so she doesn't really understand what's going on, but after learning of some metaphors that loosely approximate the physics, she has enough understanding to construct a brand new paradigm of the universe. This is probably the most arrogant and ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

Susan Tessler's story includes in my opinion the 3 most beautiful lines of this beautiful book. (I will only tell people who have already read this book.)
