About this deal

I enjoy Santa Montefiore’s writing style so much! She writes so beautifully. I really enjoyed that this book has a lot more focus on spirits of the deceased family members. This was exactly what I wished for. I can’t wait to read some of her other books. I already bought a lot of them. 📚 There is nothing I love more than a big, historical fiction book to sink into when I’m faced with a rainy weekend. The only thing that could make it better is know that the book is the first of a trilogy and that if the other two are as good as the first I have a lot of great reading ahead of me. I have been on a wonderful reading run lately and I hope it continues. However when Faye arrives in Ireland she discovers many family secrets and also romance which might well break her heart. Faye gradually reads her mother’s diary and the story in the past is moving both for Faye and the reader. We begin this sequel in 1939 with Martha Wallace who is coming from America to find her birth mother. Martha was adopted as an infant and went to America with her happy parents. What secrets she will discover.

This is the third book I have read by Santa Montefiore and I can flat out state it won't be the last. I very much enjoyed The Beekeeper's Daughter as well as Secrets of the Lighthouse.Montefiore succeeds again in describing the rugged nature of Ireland in such a way that there is the desire to immediately leave for a trip there. The Daughters of Castle Deverill is the perfect weekend read, it truly is pure escapism. The sweeping nature of the novel and the grandness in scale, makes it a wonderful romantic saga to get lost in. I have read a number of Santa Montefiore books in the past and I have enjoyed each and every one of them. I do like the direction Montefiore has taken with her Deverill series. She has seeped her series deep in rich Irish history, she delivers a strong sense of place and presents the reader with a rich cast of main, as well as supporting characters. I was sorry to reach the end of The Daughters of Castle Deverill, as I now have to wait for the third and final chapter in the series. I am hoping the open ending and unanswered questions that I had after closing the second book will be resolved by Montefiore in the next book. Thank you, 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻 & 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 for sending me an ARC of this moving novel. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 by Santa Montefiore is available at your favourite bookstore. Arethusa Clayton has always been formidable, used to getting her own way. On her death, she leaves unexpected instructions. This is the Dutch version of The Distant Shores. The English version will be published in July, so you’ll just have to wait for a little while longer!

Canciones de amor y guerra fue uno de mis mejores descubrimientos de este año, no saben lo mucho que esperaba esta segunda parte,y ha superado mis expectativas. Now this book, The Girl in the Castle, captured me immediately. If you like stories set in Ireland, reading a bit of the historical fiction interspersed about the Irish War for Independence and a bit of ghost appearances to boot - you will love this book.

I came into The Daughters of Castle Deverill, the second book in a series written by established British author Santa Montefiore, having just read its predecessor, Songs of Love and War. Although it is not essential to have read the first book, Songs of Love and War, to enjoy The Daughters of Castle Deverill, I believe it enhanced my reading experience. It gave me a good handle on the characters and the scene that had been set. However, Montefiore does devote time in the Daughters of Castle Deverill in keeping her readers up to speed on her characters and their lives, which enables the book to also be read as a standalone novel.
