About this deal

Truly, I took a few days away from real life (Sarah would be proud) to read Rebecca Raisin’s novels and they all completely blew me away. The Bookshop on the Corner was my favourite by far and I do believe it probably can’t get any better… but I am more than happy to be proved wrong come the next novella in the series later this year! I will absolutely read more of Rebecca Raisin's work. AWESOME. I want to go to Ashford. I'm off to read the Gingerbread Cafe books now! As an aside, I loved the way the author dedicated the book. There is no dedication in this book because the entire book is dedicated to you: the reader. To all readers.

Colgan instantly transports the reader to the Scottish Highlands in this new book, with her delectable descriptions and faultless writing style. This is a skill I admire, and find in very few authors, the ability to show you a place/environment rather than telling you. I could clearly see and feel the haar in the mornings and the late afternoon sunshine glittering on the loch. Or at least it was. Until yesterday, she was a librarian in the hectic city. But now the job she loved is no more. Hoover is one of the freshest voices in new-adult fiction, and her latest resonates with true emotion, unforgettable characters and just the right amount of sexual tension.I really didn't like this book. Nina was a mousy, clumsy, clueless woman. That is an insult for the women kind. And she is not even close to be a reasonable librarian or a book lover.

I was excited to see that this is #1 in a series and I will clearly seek out the next two because this one was such fun.The ending is fairly predictable, but that isn’t a problem. That’s what you read these types of books for. You start on the journey, pretty sure where you’re going to end up, but enjoying the ride along the way. And that’s OK. But you know when you're watching a film you feel like you can see what's happening?" Ben nodded. "Well, that's one thing. But when you read a book, you feel like you're in it." "Like a computer game?" "No. Not like a computer game. Computer games are fun, but you're still just looking at stuff and pressing buttons. Reading is being in stuff." Ben squinted. "Like actually being there?" "Like actually being there. You plug straight into the writer's brain. It's just you and them. You experience what they experience." While I took great pleasure in watching Nina tirelessly spread the gift of books to her isolated community, the story evolves into something more, proving that people can work together to resolve problems if only they would try to see things from a perspective other than their own.

Faced with her new boss Ramsay, and his 3 unruly children, Zoe begins to wonder if she’s made a terrible mistake. But the Highlands have a way of getting under your skin and in her heart, Zoe doesn’t know whether she could ever leave. Books were the best way Nina knew – apart from, sometimes, music – to breach the barrier; to connect the internal universe with the external, the words acting merely as a conduit between the two worlds."Nina Redmond is 29 years old. The library where she works is to be closed, like so many, and Nina finds herself facing a bleak future in Birmingham where she lives. The library services are to be compressed into the centre of town where they would become a 'hub' with a 'multimedia experience zone'. Ugh! Not for Nina who is caught looking at adverts for large vans for sale, by her friend Griffin. A mobile bookshop? Why the hell not? There are thousands of books available as the library is closing. The snag though is that the van that really catches Nina's eye is in Scotland... Nina Redmond is a librarian with a gift for finding the perfect book for her readers. But can she write her own happy-ever-after? The Bookshop on the Corner is a feel good read may have you smiling, laughing and be in your own dreamland. It is such an easy read and you will be wanting more from Sarah and Ridge again. This is an important topic the author is trying to discuss in this book. I have seen a single line in a book saving a patient's life. He told me that he would have committed suicide if he wouldn't have read that line telling us the importance of life in the book. Books can make such a powerful impact on a human being's life. I have loved books my whole life, having started reading from an early age, books hold some of my fondest memories. One of which is snuggling down at bedtime next to my mum for a chapter of the next great adventure. As an only child and being quite introverted, I found that by devouring stories I could live exciting journeys to faraway lands from the comfort of my home. Even now as an adult following my own adventures, and being slightly less introverted, the feeling of joy that comes from meeting new characters and discovering new places has never diminished. The sheer love of books is what ultimately shines through in this story, and that’s a plot I can wholeheartedly get behind!

And thereby lies the tale of another delicious read from Jenny Colgan. What's not to like about a bibliophile selling books from a van, following her trials and tribulations and her love life, as it is, in the Highlands? Curl up in front of the fire with a cup of tea (OK, a single malt felt more appropriate) and enjoy this story that makes you feel warm inside.I found it easy to relate to Sarah. She is a book lover, a dreamer, desperate for her own happily ever after -actually, she is very similar to me! I couldn't make my mind up about Ridge and didn't immediately fall for him, but enjoyed the development of the relationship between him and Sarah none-the-less. Naturally, the course of true love never did run smooth, and at one point I was fuming at Ridge-honestly, my blood was full on boiling! Desperate to escape from London, single mother Zoe wants to build a new life for herself and her son Hari. She can barely afford the crammed studio apartment on a busy street where honking horns and shouting football fans keep them awake all night. If she doesn’t find a way out soon, Zoe knows it’s just a matter of time before she has a complete meltdown. On a whim, she answers an ad for a nanny job in the Scottish Highlands, which is about as far away from the urban crush of London as possible. It sounds heavenly! Love could be just around the corner when a New York journalist Ridge Warner steps into her bookshop...will she let her self fall in love with a hunky man and believe you can get that happy-ever-after in real life too!
