About this deal

In addition to the seven main characters, there have been limited releases of the school teacher Maiya in a spy outfit, and baby Oleg in a safari outfit. [24] [25] We started in 2000. One of the reasons it was successful was that it was the only thing on during the Olympics that wasn’t sport. People who can’t stand sport were desperate for something else to watch. I did all 13 years. That’s 1,875 episodes. There were only two I didn’t do: a Eurovision special where they got Terry Wogan, and an Apprentice special which I’ve never understood to this day. If I were to describe the events leading up to this film as ‘hysterical’, it would be an understatement. Fans were eagerly awaiting this new film, the first new Star Wars film for nearly twenty years. It was always going to prove difficult to live up to the hype, but The Phantom Menace failed to meet expectations, with flat characters, lots of politics, and whole sections of the film that weren’t really needed. The battles were nicely done, but the general consensus of the fans is that The Phantom Menace was a let-down.

In 2013, researchers at the University of Liverpool hypothesised that the mass appeal of the marketing campaign was due to the campaign's successful amalgamation of narrative tropes from Russian literature, comedy literature, and adventure literature. [18] Impact on other marketing campaigns [ edit ] Return of the Jedi concluded the original saga, and for a long time this was my favourite of the Star Wars films. There was a little more brevity in this one, via the Ewoks, but with scenes like the Falcon’s swoop through the Death Star, Luke’s coming of age fight against Vader, and the epic fleet battle, it’s still a great film. In 2014, Aleksandr and Sergei featured on the Neighbourhood Watch logo to mark the charity's 50th anniversary. [10]New ad to Compare The Market's meerkat family". Express.co.uk. 20 December 2013 . After Oleg and Ayana's return in 2019, a new advert series was shown called Endless Adventures, where the meerkats would walk into a door and find themselves in a movie (which are usually made up ones except for Farmageddon, which was animated by Aardman, and also features Alexander's voice actor Simon Greenall). Monkey, another popular anthropomorphic animal used in British advertising on products such as PG Tips and ITV Digital since 2001. In December 2018, Auto Sergei, an animatronic meerkat, was introduced, to make life "simples" and then was upgraded for credit card use. He featured in adverts where Aleksandr acts like a CEO for a big company, while Sergei takes on a similar appearance to Steve Jobs in some adverts. In February 2022 the company withdrew adverts from being shown during news broadcasts following the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine stating that it had reviewed its media plan and wanted to avoid the adverts appearing near news on the invasion to ensure that the company was being sensitive to the current situation. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars in April 2017, another two new meerkat toys were released featuring Aleksandr in a Luke Skywalker outfit, Sergei in an Obi-Wan Kenobi outfit. From the movie Beauty and the Beast meerkats Oleg as the Beast and Ayana as Belle appeared on the shelves. In the Christmas of 2017 and early 2018, an advert featured Oleg in an BB-8 outfit. All toys were not released again after May 2018, although a toy with Oleg in pyjamas was released in September 2020 based on an advert where Oleg and Ayana won’t go to sleep.

The first was VR, which features Sergei & Carl playing with virtual reality headsets whilst bumping into themselves. The second was Washing Machine, which saw Carl cleaning Aleksandr’s coat in a washing machine. He then takes it out and gives it to Sergei. However, much to Sergei's dismay, the coat had shrunk in the wash.

This was a much better film overall. It wasn’t perfect by any means, and Hayden Christensen’s acting was painful at times, but the characters were more realised, the story more coherent and the film was infinitely more watchable than The Phantom Menace. It also gave us a great ground battle and a great fight in an asteroid field.

I was aware of it, certainly. I had seen the three original films and had rather enjoyed them, but I didn’t really appreciate them until their 1997 re-release at the cinema. Once I got to see them on the big screen, I fell in love with the Saga.
