About this deal

I Hope you found this Seiko SNK807K2 review useful and enjoyable, comment below and let me know what you think of it.

The sweeping second hand also has a red-accented tip for better visibility, and pairs beautifully with the red day complication. Yes, the Seiko 5 SNK809 is a good watch—for the right buyer. There are definite reasons that so many people select a Seiko 5 as their first mechanical watch. Or even as their only watch. And why so many people continue to add them as inexpensive additions to a larger watch collection. Now this may not be that exclusive watch that’ll make an entire room weak in the knees whenever you stretch your hand out for that cuppa joe, but numbers don’t lie. Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit. The most foolproof way to go about setting the date and time is to start working from the previous date.

Free Strap Adjustment

Each hour marker is accented by a seconds counter that steps up by five for each hour, all the way to 60 seconds. That’s a classic pilot’s watch feature, and though it makes the SNK809’s dial much busier, it fits within the overall aesthetic. But the SNK809 continues to impress with its solid build that rivals far more expensive timepieces. It has nice weight to it and feels great on the wrist. The Seiko SNK809 features a water resistance of 30m or 3 bar if you prefer reading it that way. 30m water resistance isn’t much, but I don’t expect you’re going to go all out diving with this style of watch. The Seiko 5 SNK809 may be the best automatic watch on the market in this price range. It is a stylish, sleek, and well-respected timepiece that is long-lasting, durable, and comfortable to wear.

Price and availability are definitely attractive features of the Seiko 5 SNK809. In fact, with so many relatively affordable mechanical watches available these days from both microbrands and longer-established brands, price and availability are probably THE primary strengths of the Seiko 5 SNK line. Plus, it offers better scratch resistance than regular mineral crystal, which is commonly used in this price range. Seiko SNK809 Movement The Seiko 5 SNK809 is one of the most popular watches from Seiko. It is loved and appreciated by watch enthusiasts and regular watch-wearers alike. If you are looking for an affordable automatic mechanical watch, there are not many better alternatives than the SNK809. It was developed by Seiko for use in their Seiko, Pulsar and Lorus watches, it’s similar to mineral glass and basically their own take on this type of glass. It’s exactly what I’d expect to find in a watch in this price range so I’m very pleased with that. Nothing is more satisfying than watching the gears and levers of a manual timepiece working in beautiful synchrony. It might not look as intricate as some other watches, but the 7S26 movement in this is still a sight to behold. The StrapI think we can get similar stories from others as well. But one person will undoubtedly have a "My watch leaked" story, it has to happen to someone at sometime. water resistance isn’t very high, it’s suitable for day to day use but you can’t go swimming etc with it. A lot has changed since the SNK809 was first released in the early 2000s, however. So is the Seiko 5 SNK809 still worth buying in 2022? Is the Seiko 5 SNK809 a good watch?

The qualities that give it such a straightforward appearance are a nod to the watch’s military roots, but they’re also a great opportunity for Seiko to show off its ability to build an insanely high-quality watch and sell it for peanuts. The other thing that makes the SNK809 worth buying is its size. While watches are slowly coming down in size, and there are more and more sub-40mm offerings available all the time, there are still not as many to be found in the 36-37mm range. For those with smaller wrists or those who prefer smaller or mid-sized watches, the SNK series fits the bill. I really like the calendar design, it blends in perfectly with the wrest of the dial. It’s just a standard date and day display but you can’t really expect anything more in this price range. More than happy with this. The next step up would have been sapphire glass which is scratch proof rather than the scratch resistant you see in Hardlex crystal. Due to the price of sapphire glass though you only really see it on premium watches. Strap & ClaspThere is no denying it, the Seiko 5 SNK809 is one of the most popular wristwatches ever made. The guys at Seiko have managed to push millions of these automatic manual timepieces over the years. Wikipedia’s example of what 30m water resistance offers you in ‘suitable for everyday use. Splash/rain resistant. Not suitable for showering, bathing, swimming, snorkelling, water related work and fishing.’ The thing with water resistance testing is that it’s done in a still environment with no added pressure.

With this watch, it is important to keep the price in mind, and if you factor in this, it’s easy to see why it offers great value for money compared to most other timepieces within this price range. The Seiko 5 SNK809 is one of the most impressive watches I’ve taken a close look at this year. It’s not a luxury piece and certainly won’t attract attention, but for just USD 100 (or less on the web), it offers a lot more than a mechanical watch should. A reliable, in-house automatic, all from a well-established brand, with the founding family still involved in the brand, with a steel case and restrained dimensions… And let’s not forget that it’s been in continuous production for 55 years. Certainly not the same mechanical marvel as a Patek, but still, we dare to say it again: this is the most accessible high-end watch in the world (and by quite a margin). Like all automatics, the SNK809 requires regular wear for it to keep going, and has a power reserve of about 40 hours. But even with constant wear, you’ll have to reset the time every couple of days to account for the deviation. You can expect to loose around 1 minute per month in accuracy, however, this is easily sorted when you adjust the date. It is sleek, small, and easy to wear. It is not as bulky as a dive watch, nor as glamorous as a dress watch. With that said, it is the perfect everyday watch suitable for any occasion. Plus, it can take a beating and withstand harsh conditions.

The indices have lumed dots on their outer edge, and their placement on the outside of the dial means there’s room for the date window and a lume dot for better nighttime visibility. Change up the strap with a leather one maybe, and you get a wristwatch that will be a nice complement to that tailored suit. It’s safe to say that the Seiko 5 SNK809 isn’t one of the most stunning looking watches. I don’t think I’d wear it to any serious formal occasions myself, but I would be more than happy to wear it as a day to day watch. I mentioned earlier in our specifications section that the Seiko featured a Seiko 7S26 movement. The Seiko 7S26 automatic movement is basic 21 jewel style movement. Are there reasons to buy the SNK809 besides price? Yes, I’d say there are. Fit and comfort: a watch size that works
