About this deal

My friends worshipped Aaron Warner 24/7 (which later led to me devoting myself to him) and forced me to read the series. I still remember when I started reading Shatter Me and was expecting Aaron to make me go all head over heels for him yet all I got was Adam which was the saddening part. I grab my nearly useless pen with the very little ink I’ve learned to ration each day and stare at it. Change my mind. Abandon the effort it takes to write things down. Having a cellmate might be okay. Talking to a real human being might make things easier. I practice using my voice, shaping my lips around the familiar words unfamiliar to my mouth. I practice all day.

For those unaware, Mafi wrote the first three books and then there was a very large gap before she wrote Books 4-6. Warner's obsession with Juliette is terrifying. And I haven't even truly scratched the surface yet. And I hated her when she saw her sister (a twist that was just thrown there for no reason except week writing) in the hurtful condition but forgot about her the minute Warner comes to her rescue

Creative Play

I assumed, when she invited me into this dressing room, that it was for reasons beyond me staring at the color variations in an unusually white wall. I assumed she wanted me here to see something. Seven years later and this is still just as awful as I remembered. This first book is a hot, boiling ass mess and I will never understand the hype of it and why people tote it as the second coming. The writing is just above tolerable but the prose is laughably bad. Terrible, cheesy dialogue, a weak main character in Juliette and to top it off we get the bland bowl of oatmeal that is Adam Kent. *snores* Thank God for the love of my life Warner and my spirit animal Kenji because they made this book. Without them this would’ve been a one star read because I genuinely don’t like it. I will say that the next two books are leaps and bounds better but damn this first one is just a dumpster fire. Kenji Kishimoto is really my favorite character. I not only respect him for his sense of humor (with all due respect, I love his sense of humor), I do it because he shows empathy for those who are broken. And he keeps trying to make them smile even though they look like they want to murder Kenji (I think you know who I mean ;). Kenji Truley has a good heart. We need more Kenjis in this world. Still, I'm sure it can be exhausting. He talks a lot and appears on doors when he shouldn't... but he's also a broken boy. A boy who didn't have it easy in his life. The twists and turns of the plot catch you by surprise and each new discovery adds complex layers to the characters' development. This is not your average book series. This doesn’t even come close to your average book series. Think The Hunger Games but with more metaphors. Think Divergent but with more heart. Even then, even then, you are not even close. This is the Shatter Me series, and words don’t come close to describing how I feel about it. Whenever I think about this series I want to scream. Out of joy, out of frustration, out of typical fangirl tendencies.

I could go on for days... weeks... no years about this book. I would go so into detail and fine tooth comb and break down every chapter if I could, but I wont because I would never want to tarnish, or give out any details to someone who hasn't had the chance to read this masterpiece, because that's what this series is. It's the Mona Lisa of ya novels. A slight mysterious smile that you can't turn away from. It makes you want to scream out loud and kiss Tahereh's forehead and thank her for writing something so on point. so on point. The heart-stopping third installment in the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City. Juliette, the main character throughout, is a strong compassionate and full force of a female character. She fights with her emotions and her mentality thinking that she is what everyone's called her her entire life. A monster. Except for one person, Adam Kent, who didn't believe this to be true. This allows you to see what Warner is thinking since Shatter Me is told from Juliette’s point of view. It also serves as an interlude between novels since the events of Destroy Me take place after Shatter Me but before Unravel Me. You know how you meet someone with such passion for what they do and all you can think is "wow, this person was born to do this" well Tahereh Mafi was meant to be a writer, and I'm SO very thankful that she is! Thanks for the permanent goose bumps, tears, laughs, and never ending book hang over that you have rewarded me with.I am forever in your debt. The author did an amazing job creating such a diverse world, with people from different races and cultures. And let's not forget my favorite character, Kenji! He's hilarious and brings much-needed humor to the craziness of the story. But when it comes to responsibilities, he's dead serious. He's Juliette's bestie and an incredibly loyal friend. Seriously, we all need a Kenji in our lives. His interactions with Warner were pure gold, especially that hilarious haircut scene! Having killed the North American Supreme Commander, Juliette has taken over as ruler of The Reestablishment. She can still kill with the touch of her hand; but can she control that power, or will it control her? I get Juliette instant attraction to Adam, first person to be able to touch her her whole life? Shes gonna feel something. That something however is not love, if anything its lust and the first taste of friendship she’s ever had all mushed up. And that’s being generous to Mr Dull Potato Adam. The only redeeming quality to Adam is his love for is brother James. I do love it when YA shows some good sibling relationships.
