It works by binding to and neutralising excess acid produced by the stomach. Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over should take one or two tablets as needed to relieve symptoms, up to a maximum of 8 tablets in 24 hours. If used regularly for long periods of time there may be an increase in the level of calcium in the blood (hypercalcaemia).
