Over the years, SMOK has produced some of the best-selling kits around. The Alien range offered vapers powerful performance with a cutting edge design, whilst the PRIV range provided a more cost effective way to quit smoking and start vaping. There are also the very popular Nord products, which gave people that same high performance in a smaller vape pod kit.

Form factor may not be the Smok RPM2’s greatest attribute but I wouldn’t say the RPM2 is ugly, it just looks functional. The Smok RPM 2 replacement coils are a series of cross-compatible coils that can be paired with a wide selection of kits. This selection includes the RPM 2 kit among others. There are two versions of this coil available, one for MTL (Mouth To Lung) vaping and the other for DTL (Direct To Lung) vaping, giving you the option to experiment and discover your perfect vape.

But having said that, since the birth of the RPM40, Smok’s first ‘pod mod’– it has to be said that Smok actually hasn’t done a bad job in the past 12 months.

If you don’t own the SMOK RPM 2 already, the top question on your mind is probably this: What are the differences between the SMOK RPM 2 and RPM 2S? The answer to that question is quite simple; the only difference between the two devices is that the SMOK RPM 2 has an internal 2,000 mAh battery, while the SMOK RPM 2S uses a removable 18650 battery. The battery isn’t included, so if you don’t have an 18650 battery already, you’ll need to buy one separately. You can simply buy the device that suits your battery preference because, aside from that – and the fact that the RPM 2S is slightly larger to accommodate the removable battery – the two versions of the SMOK RPM 2 are the same. I suppose it was inevitable that Smok would release an updated version of the RPM40, the RPM2 will actually come in 2 versions, an internal 2000mAh version, and one which uses a Single 18650 battery called the RPM2-S. If your SMOK RPM 2 isn’t charging, you should first make sure that you’re using an approved charger. The SMOK RPM 2 requires a 5-volt charging current, and it’ll refuse to charge if you connect it to a power source delivering significantly over or under that voltage. A mobile phone or tablet charger generally won’t work to charge the SMOK RPM 2 or another vaping device; connect the device to your computer instead. If the RPM 2 still doesn’t charge, try using a different USB-C cable.SMOK RPM MTL Mesh Coil:3 ohm, suggested power 10-15 watts. Produces huge clouds but has tight airflow characteristics for mouth-to-lung vaping. The RPM2 kit comes with 2 pods, 2 coils, a USB-C port for charging and a massive 7ml capacity in Non-TPD format. I’m not a fan of charge ports on the base as this means laying your device on its side, which can lead to leaking. Having the Device upright is always a better option. Smok RPM2 Aesthetics Although the larger SMOK tanks look more advanced, they also follow the simple push fit setup. The SMOK T-Air Subtankhas a 510 connection, so it can be used with most mods. This will need to be removed by unscrewing the base to then access the coil. Then just remove the coil and push a new one in place. Some will be happy with the airflow, some would prefer a bit more restriction. But for an open Direct-Lung vape, it’s enjoyable especially with the 0.16 Mesh Coil. A little less with the 0.4 Mesh Coil.

In fact, at times I got a hint of burnt cotton if I vaped this coil at 25 watts, a little annoying.There’s a number of features that I look at when trying out a device, and for something to score highly, it needs to meet certain demands. The 0.16 Ohm RPM 2 coil features a mesh build that can heat more e-liquid at a faster rate, this delivers better flavour along with increased vapour production. They can be used between 25 - 50W. If you’re looking for less vapour, the 0.6 Ohm RPM 2 coils will be a better choice as they support MTL vaping. SMOK RPM Triple Coil:6 ohm, suggested power 25 watts. Designed for those who prefer restricted direct-to-lung hits. However, the flavour and vapour production is still good, not quite as mouth-filling as the 0.16Ω coil, but still good enough. Some of these pods also come with integrated coils. This means they don’t need to be swapped out. Just replace the pod with a new one when the coil burns out. This is a great option for those upgrading from a disposable or a closed pod system that don’t want to fit coils.

If you would like higher nicotine strengths but a smooth throat hit, the salt nicotines have taken the UK by storm in recent years. These typivcally have higher 20mg nicotine strengths, with a great range of delicious flavours and brands to choose from. The 0.6ohm RDL coils are the best choice for using salts. SMOK coils are made to be easy to change no matter the product. While each device may have its own specific method, they are all designed to make the user experience simple.Now this is an estimated number, however its fairly accurate. Some times I’ve had an extra 20 or 30 puffs, sometimes a little less. And yes, believe it or not, its actually been almost 12 months since I reviewed the Smok RPM40 Pod Mod. So leaving it a year before releasing its bigger brother is acceptable in my opinion (If you ignore the other 6 pod mods they’ve released) The SMOK RPM 2 and RPM 2S are the latest tiny – but incredibly mighty – pod-based devices from SMOK. They bridge the gap between small beginner-oriented pod systems like the one you’re probably using now and the full-sized mods that expert vapers often use – and while both devices operate at up to 80 watts and offer incredible performance, they’re no larger than a typical vape pen. When you combine the amazing style and performance characteristics of the SMOK RPM 2 and 2S with the incredible power of the latest SMOK RPM coils, the fact that these devices have been so successful isn’t surprising at all.
