About this deal

I did not think it would be easy to be a leader, exactly, but I do think I thought it would be easier than this:

I take in a tight breath and blink open my eyes, grateful for the time to be alone; grateful, somehow, for the opp It was delicious torture and also so erotic how Sloane suddenly started to see Dominic in a different light. Sizzling hot when all he could do, think or say was how madly in love he was with Sloane and just wanted be near her so no one else could. Dominic was flawed but such a good man. Has had a rough childhood and he didn’t want that to define him so he did everything in his power to prove to be a better man than his father. Sloane had her struggles too. From a narcissistic mother to rediscovering her need to be touched and intimate with another man. Supposedly he’s done with his ex girlfriend but “they’re still friends and he cares about her” so he allows her to call him and lean on him for support. Even during the first real date with the heroine. Instead of taking that call, dude, turn off your phone!! To avoid unfortunate complications like having your heart broken by a man past experiences taught you, you never should have trusted in the first place. It is not a light and comforting read. It is a book that will make you feel along with the characters and hold your breath at crucial moments due to the intensity of emotions.Warner shakes his head. “I know I promised I would make an effort to be nicer to your friends—and I will continue to make that effort—but I hope I’ve not led you to believe I’m capable of an impossibility.” The last two chapters were so painful and like watching a car crash you can’t look away from. And the last passage of the book had me ugly crying. But something is changing between us, and I don't know how to stop myself from breaking every promise I've ever made to myself regarding my best friend's wife. Promises that include never telling her that there's a long list of things I feel about her, but hate isn't one of them. During your commute: If you take public transportation or have a long commute, you may find it helpful to use that time to read.

On the other hand you have an "enemies to lovers" romance with a man who has treated this woman worse than garbage for over a decade (side note: I tend to take issue with contemporaries being labeled "enemies to lovers" because what it almost always is is ~rivals~ or people who vaguely annoy each other, but no this is straight up ENEMIES. He treats her like shit for twelve years) and continually pushes past consensual boundaries she tries to set and whose POV makes it very clear he feels a disturbing sense of possesive ownership over her regardless of their relationship or her feelings on the matter. You cannot convince me that the man who exhibits these behaviors is the same man who's so emotionally intelligent when it comes to the one specific circumstance of the FMCs grief. That half of things is why I'm quitting. Those rules went out of the window with this book. After reading it for the first time, I immediately reread my favourite parts. I wanted to write a review a while later and ended up rereading the entire book under the guise of "brushing up for the review." I think about the main characters and their chemistry whenever asked for a romance book recommendation. I loved everything about this author's writing. It was beautiful and I could've read a book double in size to stay with Dominic and Sloane a little longer. Dominic is the definition of a swoonworthy hero. The depth of his love knows no bounds, which you will come to see. Sloane was a strong heroine, doing what was best for her, despite the guilt she felt related to her husband's death. It's ok to be happy again, and boy does she find that happiness with Dominic.

I don’t wake up screaming anymore. I do not feel ill at the sight of blood. I do not flinch before firing a gun. Maybe they were cool with rushing because they didn’t have anything in front of them that was worth slowing down for, but I’d stop the world for you. I’d freeze time if it meant I would never run out of opportunities to look at you.”

Before bedtime: Many people find that reading before bedtime helps them unwind and relax, which can promote better sleep. Her relationship with dom was everything. The way their relationship went from hate to love was perfect. It was so adorable and heartwarming <33 AND OMG THE GRAYS ANATOMY PROPOSAL R U KIDDING ME. THIS WAS THE BEST PROPOSAL EVER. MY STANDARDS R SKY HIGH RN BECAUSE OF HIM. I especially loved how feelings were described in the book. A fundamental part of getting to know the characters through a first-person point-of-view is seeing how they feel in various situations. It is finding out what they believe in and what drives their actions. It's been a couple weeks since I put this down and I'm officially comfortable calling this a DNF at about 51% (pg. 235) She giggles and even the sound is heavenly. I want to soak it up, pull every note out of the air, and absorb it into my being.”The writing style is more show than tell in this book and it worked out really well with the characters and the overall vibe of the story. There was an emphasis on how each character is feeling in every scene and that made the book heady with emotion. He’s hardly touched me and my heart is racing; memories crash over me, scalding me in waves: the weight of his body against mine; the taste of his skin; the heat of his touch and his sharp gasps for air and the things he’s said to me only in the dark. The war? What? J, are you not paying attention? Your boyfriend is having a freaking conniption right now and you need to go handle his ass before I do.” I really wanted to love them but i simply couldn't. there was so much and so little going on at the same time to the point it became a constant migraine to continue reading. i can't bring myself to give this one star bc ily hoda, so one star for you, one star for dom, and one honorary star for mentioning greys, merder forever 🤞🏼

The above reasons are the reason why Restore Me is on my best romance books list . I absolutely loved the book and will probably reread it at random times. But the main reason I disliked this is because Dominic was such a child. When it comes to the enemies-to-lovers trope, there needs to be a solid reason for the hatred between the MCs and this book did not deliver. The only reason Dominic hated Sloane is because he liked her first before she married his best friend. I can accept some animosity because of this for a few months, maybe. But 12 years?? Grow the hell up.This,” Warner says, spinning around so I might inspect the damage, “is not trimming the edges, you incompetent moron—” Because that’s exactly what this is. Love. Can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t breathe without you, love. Your smile lights up my world, and your arms feel like home, love. I could stand here all day and watch you do the most mundane task without ever getting bored, love. I didn’t let him cut my hair,” he says, scowling. “It was”—he hesitates—“it was a gesture of camaraderie. It was an act of trust I’d seen practiced among my soldiers. In any case,” he says, turning away, “it’s not as though I have any experience building friendships.” He leveled me with a straight stare. “You must understand that unanimous, collective silence from your enemies is no act of coincidence. They’ve certainly been in touch with one another—they’ve certainly agreed to this approach—because they’re waiting to see what you do next.” He shook his head. “They are awaiting your next move, Ms. Ferrars. I implore you to make it a good one.” My mother is dead, I think, as I drag the electric blade across my skull. My father is dead, I think, as the hair falls to the floor. Everything I was, everything I did, everything I am, was forged from the twins of their action and inaction.
