Another small (US-centric) issue: Though I selected imperial as my preferred measuring system when setting up my account, there are metric measurements in the drill descriptions. It will, for instance, tell you to place the pods two to three meters apart. A BlazePod spokesperson confirmed that that the latest version of the app only offers imperial measurements in results and analytics, not drill descriptions. That means you'll need a metric measuring tape or you'll have to convert the measurements to imperial. This is only really important if you want to compare your results over time to see if you improved. If so, you'll need to measure out the spacing so you can set up the pods exactly the same way each time.
The Reax Lights can be used for a range of applications from sports performance training, small group X, personal training and PT/OT therapy sessions, physical education, sport camps. Basketball: Tap pods arranged in a triangle formation as they light up, progressively increasing speed and challenge.
And when you're not training or playing for a while, you can of course use the lamps as mood lighting. This will save you some costs for buying a smart lamp 🙂 How much do reaction training lights cost? At the beginning of my search for the right reaction training lamps, I initially had my eye on the BlazePod. After much hesitation, I then bought 4 BlazePod lights. I was under the impression that it had two sensors. Both touch and motion sensors. But to my disappointment, the BlazePod unfortunately only had a touch function. I also tried out the Reaction X. I found it very cool that they had 4 different sensor functions. Namely soft touch, strong touch, close distance (8-12 cm), far distance (30-40 cm). After a lot of practice I noticed that it is really nice to have different sensors. So that you can do many different types of training by varying the sensors. You can think of countless exercises you can do with reaction training lights. This is mainly due to the many training options that reaction training lights have. Training options
When you select an activity, the pods you will need for it begin blinking. The app tells you how to set up the pods, where you should start, and what to do. I really like that the app lets you adjust the activity settings to suit your preferences. You can, for instance, increase or decrease the activity duration, add a player if it's a competitive activity, and assign a color for each person. Most preloaded activities are set at less than a minute, but you can have them run for up to an hour. When you're ready, you can tap Start Now for the activity to begin right away, or Start on Hit for it to start when you hit a pod. Reaction training lights are training lights with special motion sensors. It is useful to know that there is a lot of difference between the various brands of reaction lights. Most of them have one sensor. Some of them register when there has been movement past the sensor. While others register touch, when you tap the lamp (vibration). And finally, you have the reaction training lamps with multiple sensor functions. Different sensor functions of reaction lampsThe app shows a list of Available Pods. Alongside each one are icons to light up, disconnect, or auto connect them. It also shows the battery life of each Pod individually. I simply pressed the Auto Connect icon next to each pod, and they moved from the Available Pods list to the Connected Pods list. Other features include: Optional beep sound, wireless range of up to 75M*, and battery life of 8-10 hours (varies depending on usage) Because reaction lights are usually pricey, a lot of people are looking for alternatives or are looking for second-hand reaction lights. I would advise against buying second-hand because unfortunately you don't know what your predecessor did with it and you can't look inside the lamps. It is of course all technical electronics and you have to be an expert to see if everything is still intact. Most reaction lamps are also not completely waterproof. Therefore, you never know for sure if you will take them over from someone with possible water damage.To upload the code first open the sketch for device one I've attached here. This gave me the opportunity to experience how much fun it was to train with reaction lights. Soon I noticed that I regretted not having chosen for 6 lights immediately. With 6 you can not only do more types of exercises, but also challenge yourself by making it more difficult with different lights and colours. Distracting mode: Instead of just trying to tap random lamps, this mode also requires you to be careful not to touch the distracting colours.
