When you look at these models, you won’t see a definitive “best” option for all circumstances. You aren’t shopping for a portable power station for a hypothetical average person or household; you are shopping for yourself and your unique needs.Among these many portable power stations on the market, we’ve narrowed it down to six of the best in 2023. For example, we will take the GoSun PowerBank 1100 (to make the math easier) and attach four of the 110-watt lights. Also taking into account the efficiency of the unit which the manual specifies as 88% we should be able to get at least 2000 x 0.9 x 0.88 = 1584Wh of usable capacity. Oscal PowerMax 700 (666Wh): Another unit that didn't perform particularly well in our tests, but does boast a ton of features including a "non-stop continuous power supply mode."
It is silent during normal operation and when the cooling fan is activated, the sound is below 60 dB. Deeno X1500 (1,036Wh): The X1500 did not fare well in our tests. It came through with one of the lowest usable capacity scores we've collected so far at 69.88%, meaning you see about 724Wh out of the stated 1036Wh. For the price, there are better options. If you just need a laptop and some USB gadgets charging then we recommend the Powertraveller Condor 100. With a 27,000 mAh battery giving around 100Wh of storage, it can recharge a laptop twice and a smartphone up to ten times on a single charge. It’s an ideal device for an off-grid trip because you can carry it anywhere, set it up on a table or desk, and plug in what you need. No need to give up your tech or luxuries on a remote cabin or RV trip — with portable power for your smartphone, laptop, or television, you’re ready to go. I did try switching again to Car as the input source and connecting one panel via this input since its range appears to cover the output of one solar panel. But although it recognised its input with the voltage displayed, the power stations still didn’t charge. I tried this with the Bluetti SP120 and the Allpowers and Ecoflow panels. Again looking into this with my bench power supply it looks like this input needs 8A of current to charge the unit – so in bright enough conditions with the right single panel you might get this to work. Taking a power consumption inventory of the electronics you need to operate will prevent you from wasting time and money on a portable power station that won’t meet your requirements. Anker Solix F2000 (2,048Wh): Previously known as the Anker PowerHouse 767 and previous winner of "best large portable power station" here on CNET. This model has lots to offer by way of features and options -- pretty much anything other than wireless charging. It also performed quite well on our usable capacity and charge time tests. In terms of design, it’s one of the best looking power stations on the market in our view. You can buy it with rather natty green, blue or grey trim (we went for the blue) and there is a gorgeous colour LCD screen in the middle of the front face which tells you how much battery you have left by showing 5 slices of a battery. The slices are all blue when full but then they gradually disappear as you deplete the stored energy. We would have preferred to see a percentage level on the display as well, but ultimately the battery indicator works well. The above mounting system is based on a pantile roof. An alternative mounting system may be required for slate or flat roofs If that’s not enough for you then you could also try their flagship AC200Max model which we recently reviewed – it has a 2.2kW inverter and 2048Wh of capacity!
