About this deal

Despite being the most popular of the “bone headed” dinosaurs we really don’t have a lot of material for Pachycephalosaurus, only skull material has been found. For this reason the body of this sculpt is based on material we have for Dracorex. Of course there is also strong evidence that suggests Dracorex was a juvenile Pachycephalosaurus. Doug Watson previously sculpted the 2012 Safari Dracorex which I also reviewed for the blog. The two models look similar and display fantastically together. The Wild Safari Pachycephalosaurus is new for 2020 and measures 8.13” long and stands 4” tall. Pachycepahlosaurus was the largest of its family, estimated to have measured 14’ in length. That puts this model at about 1/20 in scale. The figure is sculpted by Doug Watson, as the majority of Safari’s prehistoric lineup has been for the last several years. There is also a cranial lesion sculpted onto the dome, a detail included on the basis of fossil evidence. Although it seems unlikely that these animals butted their heads quite like bighorn sheep as was once thought it is clear that they were using their heads for something more than just visual display. Multiple fossil Pachycephalosaurus specimens exhibit these lesions; this along with other lines of evidence supports the hypothesis that these animals were engaging in antagonistic behaviors involving their heads. I personally love that fossilized evidence for behavior is now being applied to these figures and I hope that the trend continues. Play out the ultimate in dinosaur rivalry and battle with Jurassic World Savage Strike dinosaur action figures! EXPERT APPROVED. “Schleich playsets and figurines inspire kids to play imaginatively: an essential part of healthy childhood development so often overlooked in today’s fast-paced world.” - Dr. Sandra Stone, open-ended play expert

Pachycephalosaurus lived between about 76 million years ago and 65 million years ago, during the late Cretaceous period. These fierce dinosaur action figures feature articulated arms and legs, realistic sculpting and authentic decoration capturing all the excitement of the movie. Battle it out—Savage Strike style—with these fierce action figures! The ribs and hips are visible just under the skin, but not in what I would consider a shrink-wrapped sort of way. Folds of skin slightly overlap the toes of the figure while the underside of the toes appear nicely padded. The tail gently sweeps rightward and then leftward towards the tip. From afar the figure might appear smooth but upon closer inspection there is a lot of small scale detail and wrinkling, you might need a magnifying glass to truly appreciate it, you’ll certainly need one to see the tiny cloaca which is indeed there. Large osteoderms are sculpted in various places along the body but are mostly clustered around the torso. Perfect Gift: Ideal for dinosaur enthusiasts, educators, collectors, or kids who love prehistoric adventures, this Pachycephalosaurus makes a fantastic gift.PART OF A GROWING PLAY WORLD. The Pachycephalosaurus is part of the Dinosaurs collection of figurines and playsets from Schleich. Great for gifting, this figurine can stand alone or fit into a larger, modular play world. Dimensions: Measuring 8 inches long and 3 ¾ inches tall, this figure is about the size of a pair of scissors, perfect for hands-on exploration. Pachycephalosaurus was a Pachycephalosaur - a member of a group of related herbivorous (plant-eating) dinosaurs with bony domes on their heads. Authentic design. Great Details? The dino toys can Display Or Play with amazing detail, realistic, educational, and fun, this figurine is suitable for a range of interests, including collectors, teachers, and kids. Another special characteristic of this figure is the care in the details and postures, which gives the impression that the figurines are animated. The HC Pachycephalosaurus was a much-anticipated figure for me because I don’t have a mainline Mattel Pachycephalosaurus, I like The Lost World creature design, and Pachycephalosaurus is a favorite dinosaur of mine. The figure measures about 8” in length while the actual animal is estimated to have measured 14.8’. Those in The Lost World: Jurassic Park are said to measure 13’ and when scaled down from that this toy comes out at 1/19.5 in scale which is close enough to the 1/18 scale humans and vehicles. Those in Jurassic World are larger but this figure is specifically meant to represent the animal from The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Educational and Engaging: Providing a glimpse into the world of prehistoric creatures, this figure encourages curiosity about paleontology and fosters imaginative play. It's a wonderful tool to learn about the life and behaviors of Pachycephalosaurus. Made of soft fabric and materials, each dinosaur plush features realistic details like embossed scales, spikes, claws, toe details and more. The company who produce several lines of dinosaur figures including the Carnegie Collection and the Wild Safari Line Premium collectability.
