About this deal

Beautiful dark blue metallic colour that changes quite a bit and appears different depending on the environmental lighting. Both Aria and Starfield offer sufficient transparency in their bass. However, each of them reflects it in their own style. But with these facts in hand, it’s wise to invest in Aria if the design doesn’t matter much to you. The general response in the lows is similar, with the Starfield basically being the warmer and bassier alternative to the Etymotic ER2XR (up to 5 dB difference in the very low sub-bass). The IEM shells themselves are made of solid metal and feel generous in hand. Besides, the golden design is elegant.

The Starfield have excellent build quality. They are metal and have a finish that is unlike any other IEM’s I have seen, sadly, the finish is prone to peeling off. They feel heavy and the machining is excellent, which is conducive to a very unique aesthetic. What I find most mesmerising about the finish is depending on the angle, the paint will shift from blue to purple. It’s a work of art. Oh, no worries! We have suggestions about that part too so that you don’t waste your money buying unnecessary accessories. Terrible cable memory, likely to get jammed more often, and the cable noise will throw you off the main sound.

The midrange and treble tuning is highly comparable, with my Starfield even leaning slightly more towards to my ER-4S. In direct comparison, the ER2XR have got the ever so slightly more even response wherefore they sound a smidgen smoother and more realistic, although it is a super close case. However, unlike the Starfield, it seems like you won’t be complaining about paint chipping in Aria. disclaimer: This sample was provided for the purpose of writing a review, no incentive was given to write a favourable review. All opinions expressed are my own subjective findings Now, this case isn’t very different from the one that comes with Starfield. Also, it’s almost the most regular of IEM cases you can receive. Off topic: This is similar to human vision. Let's say you have 3 diopters, and have seen everything blurred all your life... then if you put on glasses with 1 diopters... you'll think: wow, now I can see much better. But because you have never ever had better vision, you cannot imagine how could this be even better. Then you get stronger glasses with 2 diopters and wow... once again everything is much better. How do you know you've reached perfect vision?

With the current buzz around all the single driver, carbon nanotube diaphragm Chi-Fi IEMs, it’s hard not to get caught up in the excitement. Now that I’ve had listening time with the MoonDrop Starfield, I can absolutely report that I understand the hype. Bass is well extended and has great impact, clarity and slam. There is a single dynamic driver in this IEM, which can produce excellent bass response. In the past, I have reviewed their entry-level NAMELESS earbuds, which I love, and their entry-level SPACESHIP earphones, which I find maturely tuned but not musical enough. The Starfield's feature a single dynamic driver with a 10mm CNT diaphragm. They are tuned to Moondrop's own harmanish tuning. Thanks to the DD timbre is excellent However, after evaluating the Aria with the Starfield, it was very apparent that the Aria produced a more rounded headspace. The Starfield, at least for me, has a loose fit. The Aria’s design allows it to sit securely within my ears.
