HOW TO DRAW (& ANIMATE) WITH BRAD ABLESON - Co-director Brad Ableson shows us how to draw all of our favorite characters. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness has still got the crown so far, but the return of the little yellow dudes and their equally little big boss is a close second. Everything builds to an epic confrontation on the streets of San Francisco and it’s a genuine joy to watch. LAIR FLAIR: MAKE YOUR OWN MINION HIDEOUT – The Minions aren't the only ones who can build a secret lair — now you can, too! (And yours doesn't have to be built under Gru's bed.) Gru-vy Animation (1080p, 6:27): Exploring the animation process and what each stage accomplishes towards the finished film. It took between six week and two months for the movies to go from theaters to DVD. We’re looking at something similar to The Bad Guys for Minions since they are targeting the same ages. That suggests that Minions: The Rise of Gru will come to DVD and Blu-ray in around two months. Keep an eye out for around Tuesday, Sept. 6.

After struggling to gain the skills needed to master the game, the newbie unexpectedly rises to the occasion and saves the day, earning him the magical crown and the appreciation of his buddies. Character Profiles (1080p, 15:47 total runtime): Exploring several key characters from the film through cast and crew interviews and Now, that’s not exactly a bad thing either. The minions themselves are hilarious, and the film works just fine as a mindlessly entertaining film to giggle at their antics. Moral of the story? Go into The Rise of Gru knowing that this is an excuse to watch the minions make a billion dollars for Universal with crazy hijinks, and you’ll end up probably being satisfied with the movie. It’s cute, stupid, and generally just good natured fun. Minion Martial Arts (1080p, 4:12): Looking at the use of martial arts in the film and the influences that pushed the film's direction. Minions: The Rise of Gru is not exactly a deep movie. In fact the story is as paper thing as you can get. The original Despicable Me movies were cute and adorable films about Gru and becoming a “good” villain, while the Minion movies are just silly vehicles for yellow twinkie hijink, and this one is no different. The plot with Gru is simple and straight forward, with most of the 88 minute film (80 minutes and 50 seconds without credits) runtime being nothing but an excuse for Kevin, Bob, Stuart and Otto to do their gibberish voices and do crazy things.

and commercials later, the franchise is still going strong with Minions: The Rise of Gru, an origins story about Gru' rise to villainy as an Of course, you’ve spent the long weekend in theaters. The kids just had to go and see Minions 2. Now they want to see it again and again, which means you need to get it on DVD and Blu-ray. This has now developed into way more flexibility for film studios, so films come out for home viewing when they think they’re going to have the most impact (within reason). For Minions The Rise of Gru, it means that Illumination and Universal Pictures can look at all of the info and timings with regards to Christmas, cinema sales and past trends to plan things out for home entertainment. Taking all of these things into account, October is still our best estimate for the release. Minions: The Rise of Gru is silly fun, taking full advantage of modern animation technology, and generally being a stupid and silly bit of cotton candy entertainment. Franchise fans and kids will likely have a blast watching their favorite yellow minions laugh it up on screen, and won’t be put off by the fact that this is a shameless attempt at marketing the little guys as a veritable cash register for the studio. Everyone is having fun, and the story is not so convoluted and worn out as the last Despicable Me movie was. The Blu-ray is almost as great as the 4K, and has the same audio mix, so if you enjoyed the previous movies, I don’t see why this wouldn’t be another fun ride. Minions: The Rise of Gru will certainly keep fans of the franchise happy, and this UHD from Universal should keep home theatre fans equally happy as well. The extras aren’t extensive, but there are still some pleasant surprises to be had among them, and the video/audio quality is excellent, even if it falls just a bit short of reference level. It’s a great disc overall. Lair Flair: Make your own Minion Hideout –The Minions aren’t the only ones who can build a secret lair — now you can, too!
