About this deal

Brizio-Skov stated that films such as Malabimba - The Malicious Whore were inspired by The Exorcist but also stood in the tradition of Italian gothic films, in that they depicted sexually active women as being deadly and dangerous. [3] Italian film historian Roberto Curti noted the film's emphasis on eroticism, stating that by 1979, gothic films were infused with erotic themes that generally took over the narrative. [1] Production [ edit ] MALABIMBA is a must own Blu-ray for any fan of possession and/or Italian cult films. Come for the supernatural, the abundant nudity, and the ill-fitted porn scenes spliced into the softcore scenarios but stay for an intriguing story of a family on the brink of collapse and a girl caught between being a good daughter and exploring her fledgling sexuality. THE DISC After terrorizing the séance participants, it heads upstairs, where it possesses a woman, forcing her to touch herself, before separating and going into the room of a younger woman, Bimba (Katell Laennec, in what appears to be her only film role), and taking control of her. And now the table is set for Malabimba (aka The Malicious Whore, aka Lucifer’s Lolita, and both of titles give us a good hint at what to expect going forward).

Giordano masturbates herself explicitly and fondles for real Gaita's penis when her character washes Ignazio's pubic area with a damp cloth. Go Premium– Get One (1) month of HorrorPlex for free!! Details provided in file premium.txt (requires a free PLEX account) Actress Mariangela Giordano and cinematographer Franco Villa share their memories of the film in the segment Malabimba Uncovered (17 minutes). Topics include some interesting production stories, thoughts on the director and cast, the castle location, nuns in cinema and the erotic content in this picture. Villa denies shooting any hardcore material but says otherwise it is a pretty good movie. This featurette is in Italian with English subtitles. This special limited edition embossed slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) is limited to 2,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com! Vinegar Syndrome brings genre fans the definitive home video release of Malabimba with a 2K restoration of the fully uncut and uncensored version of the film. THE MOVIEThe release includes a new 2K restoration, a reversible cover, a sleeve with additional artwork (limited only), and the following extras: Members of the Caroli family hold a séance and channel a restless spirit named Lucrezia, who speaks through the medium and causes clothing to fly off the participants. The spirit travels throughout the castle looking for a willing host when it happens upon the innocent, sixteen-year-old Malabimba. “Bimba” undergoes a sexual awakening and suffers wild mood swings. Her erratic behavior has her father, Andreas, worried and he seeks the help of a doctor. Her condition is dismissed as simply puberty combined with psychological stress. Sister Sophia, a nun living in the castle, agrees to help the girl through positive reinforcement, unaware that the trouble stems from a dark and sinister force. They are all terrible, and I hated each one of them. I didn’t care about their stories or who did what to who. I know it’s supposed to be the spirit possessing Bimba that’s making them do all these things, but I just couldn’t get past my feelings and enjoy myself.

This movie works for two reasons. The first is the director Andreas Bianchi who, though far less prolific, was a lot like Spanish auteur Jesus Franco in his ability to take irredeemably sleazy material like this and make it somehow oddly watchable. Bianchi's work includes "What the Peeper Saw" which offered the unusual pairing of Swedish sex kitten Britt Ekland and the kid from "Oliver", scuzzy giallo favorite "Strip Nude for Your Killer" where the usually classy Edwige Fenech simulated both oral and anal sex (not surprisingly, it's the only recent DVD release she hasn't provided any commentary for), and his follow-up to this film "Burial Ground" again with Giordano who this time gets her latex nipple bitten off by a strange-looking dwarf who is supposed to be her zombified son. Which brings me to the second reason:the infamous Mariangela Giordano. Although she is sometimes labeled a "scream queen" this label doesn't really fit Giordano as she was an actress for twenty-five years in Italian genre films before she ever started doing nude sex scenes in sleazy horror movies like this in her early 40's (during her marriage to producer Crisanti). She proved so good at it though that even years later when she appeared in Michael Soavi's "The Sect" she has a scene as the world's sexiest 53-year-old naked corpse! But besides having a virtually un-aging body, she was a pretty decent actress. It is a testament to her thespian abilities that this sultana of sleaze is even remotely believable as a nun. (And if her initial seduction by the possessed teenager seems amazing just wait around for the "exorcism").The initial version submitted to the Italian Board of Censors had a running time of 84 minutes and 45 seconds, while a longer version of the film was actually distributed with explicit sex inserts. [5] Franco Villa denied having shot hardcore footage for the film, stating the footage shown theatrically was not his footage. [5] Curti noted that there are no stand-in for the scenes where Laennec perform fellatio to the Uncle Adolfo character. [5] Malabimba – The Malicious Whore was distributed theatrically in Italy on 22 September 1979 by Stefano Film. [1] Vinegar Syndrome releases can live or die on their special features and presentation of a restored film. To be honest, there are some movies Vinegar Syndrome releases that are, let’s say, hard to sit through. In the case of Malabimba, the movie and special features equally add to the quality of this release. Not only does she explore her newly found sexual desires, but she sneaks around the estate spying on her family, uncovering their own repressed sexual fetishes. Amidst all this, it becomes clear that Lucrezia is not done with Sister Sofia. Un urlo nelle tenebre" released in English under many different titles ("Cries and Shadows", "Naked Exorcism""The Possessor" etc..). The film is a hopeless mess. It's very uneven. Sometimes it's visually stylish and atmospheric (good use of scenery – small village on the top of the hill, narrow and gloomy streets, the house and its interiors etc..), but the film seems like a collage of different scenes, losing some steam in consequence. It was directed by two directors: Angelo Pannaccio and Franco Lo Cascio.

Everyone in Malabimba – The Malicious Whore is despicable… except Sister Sofia. While I understand why Bimba changed, there’s no excuse for her aunt (Webley) walking around half naked and throwing herself at every man in the house… well, except her actual husband, Adolfo, who’s paralyzed from the waist down. Bimba’s recently widowed father (Enzo Fisichella) is no saint, either, kissing his own daughter in the garden like he’s been dying to do it for years and letting his sister-in-law seduce him despite his recent loss. Even Bimba’s grandmother wants her son to marry her other son’s wife, even though he’s still alive, just so they can get their hands on his money. Lucrezia attempts to possess Sister Sofia and seduce her by opening her up to sexual desires. Sofia rejects the possession attempt, and Lucrezia ends up finding a more willing host — the 16-year-old daughter of Andrea, Bimba (Katell Laennec). The possession causes a sexual awakening in Bimba. This release includes a new 2K restoration, a reversible cover, a trailer, a sleeve with additional artwork (limited only), and the following extras: The latest Vinegar Syndrome release, Malabimba (aka The Malicious Whore), hits my particular genre sweet spot. The movie is a 1970s-era Eurosleaze, sexploitation film from Italy, AND is a possession horror story that borrows from The Exorcist.Authors Samm Deighan, Heather Drain and Kat Ellinger provide a lively and entertaining audio commentary, as all three ladies are huge fans of Italian sexploitation pictures and the work of director Andrea Bianchi. They share their favorite scenes, comment on the batshit tone and mention other possession films of the era. There is also discussion of the themes and complex characters as well as notes on the cast and why this film is not categorized as Nunsploitation. One character among this crazy genre film stands out, and she’s not even possessed or a target for being possessed. Nais (Patrizia Webley) is the wife of Adolfo, by her admission essentially single for five years and yearning for a sexual partner. She’s overtly sexual and in control of every situation. She’s the least affected by what’s happening to Bimba because she’s understanding of a woman exploring her sexual side. Vinegar Syndrome has released an absolute gem of a cult movie on Blu-ray. Malabimba, is the right kind of insane to please the most critical horror fan. The features on the disc are as entertaining as they are enlightening about the film. A still gallery (1 minute) plays a collection of German promotional pictures as a slideshow set to music from the film.
