About this deal

Summary: Impressive characterisation, powerful writing and a thrilling plot. If you love plot-based fiction, you will love this book. If you prefer character-driven stories, you'll equally want to read this. I'd give it 6 stars if I could. The plot at times felt somewhat insubstantial, but as it developed, it became clear that this would be a coming of age story, of how Skye uses her inner bravery to overcome her trauma. The book's central mystery was resolved much earlier than I was expecting, and instead giving way to an ending that was more dramatic and tense. All of the kids at the summer camp have lost someone close, but is bringing them together such a good idea? And can everyone at camp be trusted?

What's the Name o...: Murder Mystery, possibly Horror? Girl visits her cousins' ("Ivy") house in countryside, but lots of weird things going on (e.g., old woman in nightdress wandering around graveyard at night). Rebellious step-sister? Read around 2018. Spoilers ahead.A simple, sweet, creepy story, a little scary in the starting but fully entertaining with a wonderful story. Skye's sister, Luisa, died in a tragic accident last summer and Skye is still struggling to come to terms with both the events she witnessed and the loss of her sister. It's, therefore, not surprising that she welcomes the opportunity to escape – even if it is on a holiday for bereaved teens. She's up for anything that will stop her thinking about the past so she's totally unprepared when she starts receiving text messages from an account only Luisa had access to. Rather than erasing all thoughts of the past, Skye finds herself having to confront her worst fears.

In her twenties she lived in Paris and worked as an editorial assistant for The International Herald Tribune. At the heart of this novel is a heartbreaking event and Skye's journey throughout, and her coming to terms which what happened, was portrayed in a haunting and realistic way. Sky's story was incredibly interesting and very well written. And, on a side note, the cover for this book is so lush you guys! Not only is it super gorgeous (and as author Sue Wallman said the reddish glow on the cover could be sunshine in the water or blood, dun dun dun) but it has a super awesome finish which makes it feel all special and I couldn't stop stroking the cover while reading. Please tell me I'm not the only one?!

Lying About Last Summer has been high up on my must read now list for a few months.... basically ever since I heard more about it I knew I would love it. It sounded like my kind of book, a thriller, a mystery and with a comparison to We Were Liars meets Thirteen Reasons Why I couldn’t wait to jump straight into the book as soon as it arrived on my door step! The story centres around a girl called Skye, who is sent to a camp for troubled teenagers after her sister dies in an accident. However, once she is at the camp she starts receiving text messages from someone pretending to be her dead sister.
