If there are any devices listed as “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”, this could indicate a power state issue with the device itself. If you see any devices listed this way, see the following section for power cycling your device. If your Kraken detects while connected to an alternative USB port, this can indicate an issue with the USB cable needing to be replaced. In this situation please reach out to our Customer Supportteam. My Kraken shows up in NZXT CAM, but the color is wrong NZXT Devices using Micro USB: Kraken X3 series, Kraken Z3 series, Hue+ Controller, Hue 2, Hue 2 Ambient, Grid V2, and Grid V3.

Before we begin I like you guys to watch the above demonstration video so that you can understand and grasp the LED lighting system as this is a premium feature on this LCS kit. So without further ado, let's have a peek at the Kraken X62 from NZXT and then head on-wards into the review... In some cases you may run into a situation where the Kraken is being detected as an “Unknown Device” in the Windows device manager or the device driver does not load properly. If you encounter this issue, you may need to manually install the chipset driver .

NZXT's sole obligation and liability under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of a defective product at our option. NZXT shall not, in any event, be liable for any incidental or consequential damage, including but not limited to damages resulting from interruption of service and loss of data, business, or for liability in tort relating to this product or resulting from its use or possession.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights granted under local law. These rights may vary. If after following the steps above your NZXT device is still not detected, then the device itself may be at fault and needs to be replaced. For further assistance, including warranty claims and setting up an RMA for the device please reach out to our Customer Support team. If the device does not detect using an alternative cable or if the device does not have a removable USB cable (i.e. RGB & Fan Controller, Kraken X61, etc.), then this may indicate that the device itself may be defective and need to be replaced. Kraken X Chipset Drivers In the Control Panel, select “View devices and printers” or if you are in Icon view, “Devices and Printers”. Hold the Power button on the PC for 30 seconds to drain any residual power. It is recommended to also allow the PC to sit for 5-10 minutes with the power cable disconnected to ensure any residual power is drained.

If you notice any distortions in these colors, this can indicate that a particular channel is failing on the Kraken and would require the cooler to be replaced. For example, a failing Blue channel will cause White to appear as Yellow while a failing Green channel will cause White to appear as Magenta. I've confirmed my Kraken is either failing or defective, what do I do next? Unfortunately there are times where the CAM software may stop recognizing your CAM-powered hardware. This can happen for a number of reasons including but not limited to changes in your system software, a hardware interruption, or a power state issue. Thankfully with a few simple steps, we can get the hardware recognized properly. Is Your NZXT Device Recognized by Windows? With these programs disabled from startup, restart your PC and confirm if the issue is still occurring or if the issue has been resolved. If you are able to control your Kraken's RGB again, try re-enabling each disabled program one at a time, restarting between each program being added until you find the offending program. My Kraken RGB is still not responding in NZXT CAM

Once the search completes, you should get a list of all detected software accessing USB devices including NZXT CAM. Take note all of these programs and try disabling them from starting with the Windows software. You can do this either from the options settings within the individual programs or by using the Startup section of the Task Manager in Windows. For Kraken X53, X63, and X73 coolers or the Kraken Z series, please connect a Micro USB (Micro-B) to USB Type-A cable from the USB port on the Kraken to any open USB Type-A port on your PC. Things were perfect with the X62 when CAM was in full control of the fans. With X63 you'll need to RPM regulate the fans yourself. My advice is simple, connect the fans to a FAN header and give them fixed settings of say 600 RPM. Basically, configure and listen and then select your acceptable or preferable acoustic level. The LCS unit does not need heaps of airflow if you are not stressing the CPU all of the time. There is plenty of cooling capacity for you to still run the fans silent. Obviously you can also set up a fan profile in your system BIOS running 500 RPM at up-to 65 degrees C, and then ramp up when the CPU would heat up. If after disabling all other detected programs the Kraken is still not responding in CAM, this could indicate an issue with the USB cable or the USB connection to the Motherboard. If you are using any kind of USB Expansion, Splitter, or Hub within the PC it is recommend to connect the Kraken directly to the Motherboard's internal USB 2.0 header to confirm if the issue is with the Kraken itself or due to this device between the Kraken and the Motherboard. RGB and Fan Controllers, including those integrated with NZXT motherboards, will be listed as “NZXT USB Device” or "NZXT RGB Controller" for newer controllers, while Kraken coolers will show up with the names such as “Asetek USB Device”, “NZXT Kraken Device”, “NZXT KrakenZ Device”, or “NZXT KrakenX Device”.
