About this deal

It comes with robust housing made of high-grade, impact-resistant plastic. The long handle on the scarifier can be folded up to save storage space. The HYSC1800E grass aerator’s large working width of 380mm (60mm wider than that of competitive models) will get the ground aerated in no time, improving your lawn drainage and grass growth whilst also protecting your lawn from waterlogging and disease. The HYSC1800E is ideally suited to small to medium-sized grassy areas and lawns (Approx. 2000 square feet/186m² – the size of a singles tennis court). Lightweight and Easy To Use One of the best types of manual scarifier is the cylinder roller, these are great for smaller lawns and are fitted with wheels to help in moving them around. However, you should consider that when using a manual rake or scarifier, they results don’t tend to be quite as good and it can be tiring and physically demanding. The Hyundai HYSC1800E Electric Scarifier employs a series of hard-wearing stainless-steel tines, which will firstly open-up the turf so as to improve drainage; and secondly will pull-out any matted moss that might be outcompeting the grass for water and nutrients. This done – ideally every month or so between late spring and early autumn – you’ll soon find your lawn becoming healthier, lusher and more verdant! With its 400mm working width, this lawn scarifier was perfect for my garden size. What I loved the most was the variable height adjuster, allowing me to choose the right depth for my lawn’s specific needs. The wide-tread wheels made it easy to manoeuvre, and although the large 45L grass catcher bag required emptying occasionally, it was still a much better alternative to manually cleaning up afterwards.

As you can see from my video review below, the Hyundai HYSC1500E is a great choice if you want to effectively remove deep seated moss and thatch from your lawn. It does a really thorough job of lifting out even stubborn thatch and gets deep down to leave your lawn looking and feeling healthier. It is worth mentioning here that I did use moss and weed killer two weeks prior to scarifying and raking, which contributed to the effectiveness of the process. A collection bag is a useful feature to have in a lawn scarifier. It gathers up the debris as you go, making the process more efficient and reducing the need for subsequent raking. I make sure to choose a model with a decent-sized collection bag to prevent having to stop and empty it frequently. Build Quality and WarrantyElectric corded scarifiers: Lightweight, quiet and often at the budget-end, this type of scarifier is best suited to small and medium-sized gardens with a power supply. Most models come with a collection box, which is a useful, time-saving feature, but the cord length can be restrictive as well as potentially hazardous. September and October are a great time for dethatching cool-season grasses, whereas warm-season grasses should be dethatched at the end of the spring. In addition to scarification, you need to aerate your lawn. This is a different process that involves removing the cores of the soil and the thatch layer. This creates paths for nutrients and water to penetrate the soil and thatch, which, among other things, makes thatch removal easier. Why do you need a lawn scarifier? Apply fertilizer: After scarifying and aerating your lawn, it’s a good idea to apply a fertilizer to help promote healthy growth. 2000 square feet/186m² - the size of a singles tennis court). When it comes to durability both drums are effective and do what they are supposed to do. Again you can see from the video how effective they are and how much moss and thatch is removed from each pass.

Keeping your lawn well-maintained and tidy involves much more than simple running a mower over it once a week. If you want to keep up appearance in the garden then it is crucial that you have the right tools for the job. Electric scarifiers and rakes are extremely convenient, have zero-emissions and a great degree of power. There are tools that have different cassettes so that you can use one machine for both raking and scarifying. Those that require a multiple purpose machine that can rake, scarify and collect moss, thatch, weeds and leaves.Users of the Hyundai 1500W have shared their insights on the performance and quality of the scarifier. Many have mentioned that it is easy to use and performs well in removing moss and dead grass. The scarifier seems to be powerful and efficient in getting lawns in shape for the summer. Having had the opportunity to use the Hyundai 1800W Electric Lawn Scarifier on my own lawn, I must say that I have seen a remarkable improvement in both the health and appearance of my grass. The scarifying heights are adjustable, allowing me to select the perfect setting for my lawn and ensuring a thorough and even job. As an added benefit, it has proven effective in controlling the growth of moss. Water your lawn: Finally, be sure to water your lawn thoroughly after scarifying and aerating it. This will help to promote healthy growth and recovery. In terms of collection capacity, the Hyundai 1800W outperforms the VonHaus 2 in 1 with its 45-liter grass collector box. However, the VonHaus 2 in 1 provides added versatility with its interchangeable rollers and adjustable handle. Both models come with a 10-meter cable for ease of use. Overall, the Hyundai 1800W may be a better choice for users requiring a more powerful scarifier, while the VonHaus 2 in 1 offers a versatile and convenient lawn maintenance solution.

Your machine will come with a pre-set cutting width and as a rule of thumb, the larger your garden, the wider this should be. Having something smaller for a larger lawn will result in you having to spend longer on the job. As already mentioned, petrol rakes and scarifiers tend to have wider options and are designed for larger lawns. With countless options available in the UK market, finding the ideal lawn scarifier can be a bit overwhelming. Worry not, as I’ve done the legwork, thoroughly researching and testing various models to help you make an informed choice. So let’s dive in and discover the top options that will leave your lawn looking immaculate and well-kept. Top 10 Best Lawn Scarifiers ProductI recently used the Hyundai 212cc Petrol Lawn Scarifier and Aerator on my medium-sized garden, and it has made a significant difference in its appearance. The hardened steel blades efficiently removed unwanted moss, thatch and dead grass, leaving my lawn revitalised and healthy-looking. It was great to finally get my hands on the Hyundai HYSC1500E and produce this, and my accompanying video, review. My lawn in the front garden was in need of some TLC and what better way to do this than using, the new to the market in 2022, electric lawn scarifier from Hyundai. Cutting Depth: This is how deep the blades cut into the lawn, so you should look for something that is at least 2.5cm. Generally speaking, the deeper it goes the more thatch you remove. To further improve soil conditions you can consider something closer to 5cm. Adjustable heights are good too as this lets you change it based on the condition of your lawn throughout the years. I’ve been very impressed by the Hyundai HYSC1500E and think that this is something well worth investing in if you want to take the hard work out of maintaining the health and appearance of your lawn. Yes, it is true, you could hire a lawn scarifier / raker, but then why would you when the Hyundai HYSC1500E is such fantastic value for money. Remember, you should be scarifying your lawn at least twice per year, so having a lightweight and compact machine readily available in your shed or garage, is an absolute must. OK, scarifying and aerating isn’t a job you’d do as often as mowing, but it’s something that many people shy away from because manually, it can be extremely hard work and will never achieve the same level of results.
