Driven by a passion for folklore and mythology, Candlelit Tales at the Morrigan Stage in Trim Castle Hotel will be breathing life into old stories, for young and old, in keeping with Ireland’s wonderful storytelling heritage. Púca will comprise four breath-taking days and five nights of music, myth, food, folklore, fire, feasting and merriment in the country where Halloween began, with a range of events on offer. In addition to the traditional ceremonies, celebrations, and offerings across Trim and Athboy, the Púca’s proclivity for mischief and entertainment will be brought to life with high profile contemporary acts in music, comedy, and performance They are also hosting their Best Scarecrow competition, featuring scarecrows made by families across Ireland. It takes place at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 14.30pm from Saturday, October 29th to Friday, November 4th. Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park will host the infamous Halloween Happenings for ten spooky days from Saturday 29th October to Friday 4th November 2022. Púca will comprise four breathtaking days and five nights of music, myth, food, folklore, fire, feasting and merriment in the country where Halloween began, with a range of events on offer. In addition to the traditional ceremonies, celebrations, and offerings across Trim and Athboy, the Púca’s proclivity for mischief and entertainment will be brought to life with high-profile contemporary acts in music, comedy, and performance. Go on a magical journey through the City of Bones where you’ll encounter a cast of weird and wonderful characters who bring Halloween to life in Derry. See the story of Halloween/Samhain through illumination, an aerial performance, pyrotechnics, and music.This year’s parade is inspired by the legend of La Loba, a wild wolfwoman who is known as the collector and preserver of the bones of humans, animals and gods that face the peril of being lost to the world. Activities include traditional Halloween games and crafts, a scarecrow corn maze, a mirror maze, hayrides, limb throwing, and more. This year at the park, they are going big for the upcoming Halloween season, with Scarecrow Valley. The festival ceremonies officially commence with the Arrival of the Spirits Samhain Procession on Saturday 29th October through the eerie dark streets of Trim, making its way to Trim Castle where the entertainment continues. The illuminated procession will be a sight to behold with large-scale processional pieces, music, fire, and performances. Spectators are invited to celebrate the Samhain Spirits and create their own masks, with dressing up highly encouraged. Developed by Fáilte Ireland in partnership with Meath County Council, to tell the origin story of Samhain or ‘Summer’s End’, Púca is intended to encourage more international visitors to visit Ireland during October and November, and to encourage domestic visitors to explore different regions of Ireland. Halloween is said to have originated at Tlachgta, on the Hill of Ward, Athboy.
