About this deal

A collection of short films, this charming little movie is notable for its introduction of José Carioca, the Brazilian cigar-smoking parrot. It is considered by some to be Disney‘s shortest animated feature, though some film institutes class anything below fifty minutes to be short, so that’s up for debate. They include the 2011 Winnie the Pooh as an official ‘Disney Classic’ and they also call Zootropolis, Zootopia! It’s also worth noting that at the time of writing this post, ‘Make Mine Music’ is not streaming on Disney+ but you can get the DVD or Blu-Ray.

Disney continued releasing its animated features in the Classics line in its foreign language equivalents until around 2007 throughout Europe, and "Walt Disney Meisterwerke" – the German equivalent series – is still in operation as of 2010 through its broader "Special Collection" range. The 1993 production mark is a treble clef. The clef symbolizes the music in the Academy Award winning Silly Symphonies. Imagining how things not seen in the film would look, they reveal never-before-seen views that remained a mystery. Until now! Walt Disney Classics (also known as The Classics from Walt Disney Home Video) is a discontinued video line launched by Walt Disney Telecommunications and Non-Theatrical Company to release Disney animated features on home video. [1] The first title in the Classics line was Robin Hood; the last title was The Fox and the Hound. With the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, all of the existing titles (except Pinocchio, Fantasia, The Fox and the Hound, The Great Mouse Detective, The Rescuers Down Under, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin) in the Classics line were ported over to the Masterpiece Collection line, after the Classics line was cancelled in the United States and Canada. The first Disney musical anthology since the 60s! Winnie the Pooh is a timeless character, and — at the risk of sounding like a broken record — the Disney version is in many ways the most iconic version of this story. “The Winnie the Pooh main theme” by the Sherman Brothers will always be associated with that lovable yellow bear. The 2008 year mark is the crown. Aurora's crown was chosen in honor of the 1959 animated classic 'Sleeping Beauty.'

The movie was released in 1937, and its success at the box office was paramount for Disney and his animation studio. It helped establish Walt Disney Pictures as a major player in the movie industry. The iconic animated film from the Walt Disney animation studio tells the tale of Snow White in this exemplary fairy tale. 2) Pinocchio (1940) Alice in Wonderland was repriced for sell-through for the first time. [10] This was never placed on moratorium and was repromoted in 1991. [6] The 2001 year mark is the butterfly. The butterfly was chosen in honor of the 1942 animated classic Bambi. These 15 animated feature films – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Bambi, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians, The Sword in the Stone, The Jungle Book, The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Rescuers and The Fox and the Hound – had only been shown at theaters, not television or any other format (except for The Sword in the Stone, which aired on television in 1985 for the first time). [2] These 15 movies laid the foundation upon which the Disney company was built. During each re-release to theaters (on a roughly seven-year cycle), they earned money comparable to new releases; it was thought the company would lose this revenue if they released the feature films on video or television. By the time the Masterpiece Collection replaced the Classics collection in the domestic market, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Aristocats were the only two of the original 15 classics that had not yet been released to video or shown on television (and the sole two pre-1985 single-narrative animated features not to be released in the Classics collection).

The marks symbolize major milestones in Disney history. A production mark represents the calender year during which the particular piece is made. Individual sculptures of an open edition piece may carry different marks when production continues over the years.

The 5 films below are not available on Blu-ray disc, so DVD’s are included instead (as per the 55 movie collection released in 2018). Just shy of sixty years after the release of Fantasia, it finally gets a sequel in the form of Fantasia 2000. This film is notable for being the first feature-length Disney sequel to get a theatrical release, something not seen again until Ralph Breaks the Internet and then Frozen 2. The idea was pitched by Roy Disney and the film received an impressive critical response, particularly the climactic Firebird scene, Fantasia 2000‘s equivalent to A Night on Bald Mountain. Often forgotten due to being wedged between two undisputed masterpieces, Down Under is a far superior version of its 1977 predecessor. The updated animation style does wonders for this Australian-set adventure, and the movie benefits from stunning imagery, particularly when the bird of prey is involved. It also marks the first Disney movie to be made entirely digitally and the final performance by the legendary Eva Gabor.

It's time to make some room in your Disney collection as we've got something special that we know you're going to love.

The most sensible and traditional way to watch these classic movies is, of course, chronologically. From Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Strange World, these movies span nearly ninety years and make up some of the best animated, if not just the best, movies of all time. The 2009 year mark is the Paw Print. The paw print was chosen in honor of the 1961 animated classic 'One Hundred and One Dalmatians.' After the wild and fantastical adventures of Cinderella and Peter, Lady and the Tramp‘s contemporary setting and simple plot seem quaint by comparison. That doesn’t stop the film from being a charming gem with an iconic cast and memorable moments, most notably the spaghetti scene which has seared into the pop culture zeitgeist forever.
