About this deal

Custodian Guard: The combination of abilities and options on your core unit now makes them a genuinely exciting inclusion.

Solar Watch has a very aggressive, infantry centric playstyle with a suite of mobility tools such as access to advance and charge, but further testing is required to see if the comparatively mediocre offense of the custodes infantry can support such an aggressive playstyle. I imagine that with bikes and dreadnoughts providing the punch, the solar watch infantry’s mobility can shine. JOYTOY reworked their new Adeptus Custodes already and published some size comparisons for them compared to the other 40k action figures!

At the climax of the Horus Heresy, the Custodian Guard fought monstrosities without number, for those in the Traitor Legions powerful enough to reach the gates of the Imperial Palace were twisted body and soul by the baleful gifts of Chaos. A thousand victories were won by the Custodian Guard, but they all turned to ash when the Master of Mankind teleported aboard Horus' flagship, the Vengeful Spirit, at the height of the Siege of Terra. There, a strike force of Legio Custodes fought the fiercest of Traitors to protect their master. They were found wanting.

Among the Warhammer 40kImperium armies of Space Marinesand transhuman warriors, the Adeptus Custodes are the elite of the elite. They stand guard over the Emperor and his Imperium, the last line of defence between civilisation and eternalChaos. All of this is strong – it means you’re never in a situation where you can’t deal with your opponent’s stuff in melee, and -1 to hit in the Fight Phase is appreciably better in 10th Edition than it was in 9th, as there are fewer re-rolls (something they’ve pulled off to a greater degree in melee compared to shooting), and weapons that used to have “built-in” -1 to hit like power fists just have worse base WS, so the penalty you apply actually matters. Detachment Rules – Shield HostThe returned Ultramarines' Primarch Roboute Guilliman prepares to lead the Imperium's forces against the encroaching darkness of Chaos in the Indomitus Crusade. Coronus • Caladius • Pallas • Venerable Land Raider • Rhino • Grav-Rhino • Grav-Raider • Grav-Spartan Those Custodian Guard known as the Companions -- the three hundred warriors charged with the direct defence of the Emperor on the Golden Throne -- remain by His side, just as the colossal edifice of Each Warden has at least five centuries of experience overseeing the defence of Terra. The Wardens are known amongst their comrades as level-headed and endlessly patient watchmen. Upon accepting the robes that mark their station they swear binding oaths to fight as immovable sentinels, a living fortress of auramite and sinew that no foe will ever breach. Each Warden’s oaths are personal, written by the Custodian himself after a full year’s contemplation sat in meditation upon the precipitous ledges of the Gallowtower. To break their vows would be worse than death to these warriors, and their determination to uphold them bolsters their already formidable wills to something of truly frightening intensity. [3a] The dedicated workhorses of an Adeptus Custodes armies are the Guardian squads. While mere Battleline, any Custodes is near on par with the commanders of other armies. Prosecutors

Deploy Scramblers: Non-character infantry unit performs action at end of movement phase, once wholly within your deployment zone, once more than 6″ away from either deployment zone, and once wholly within enemy deployment zone, completes at end of your turn. Score 10 points if all 3 pieces are completed, zero otherwise. With having easy access to infantry coming in from reserve, this secondary is fairly easy to achieve as long as your list has the infantry to achieve it. Slightly risky because you get none if you fail, but overall looks to be an easy 10 points. (Good.) The Caladius with Arachnus went down slightly, and up slightly for Iliastus (the 2 builds are the same cost now). The Telemon went up slightly, but the Land Raider went down. Fliers True to their revered and ancient origins as the Emperor’s original praetorians, the Adeptus Custodes are an elite army, featuring few named characters. In the current Edition of Warhammer 40k, there are only three characters available to Adeptus Custodes armies – and, technically, one of those characters isn’t really a member of the Adeptus Custodes at all. Any model playable as part of the Adeptus Custodes is a mighty one, though, so let’s meet them: Earth – or Terra, as it’s known in the far future – wasn’t always united under the Emperor. For millennia, He worked from the shadows to influence humanity, but, once the nascent human empire faded into the Age of Strife, He took matters into his own hands. Over time, He built vast human armies to conquer the fractured nations of Terra – but even that wasn’t enough to finish the job – so, instead, He literally built an army. It speaks volumes about the dire condition of the galaxy that Thursk left Terra but twice before the breaking of the storm, yet he has barely set foot there since the Great Rift yawned wide.

Wrap Up

Solar decades later, according to detailed extant records preserved in the Trans-Nordyc Akashic archives, a companion guard of thirty "Custodians," bearing Guardian Spears, clad in Augment Armour and personally commanded by the Emperor, fought at the head of the newborn Thunder Legion in the assault against the formidable Maulland Sen Confederacy. One of their number is even recorded as being responsible for striking the head of the Confederation's Tyrant-Prophet from its shoulders in the aftermath of the campaign's climactic "Battle of the Red Frost." In doing so, these organisations also relinquished some of their military strength. The Legiones Astartes were divided into far smaller Chapters of a thousand Space Marines each during the Second Founding. Even in the days before the Horus Heresy, it was a rare and blessed thing to see a member of the Legio Custodes, and due to the confinement of the Emperor to the Golden Throne, it has become an almost unthinkable event for a present-day citizen of the Imperium. Objective markers represent objects of tactical or strategic import that both sides are attempting to secure, such as valuable artefacts, vital supplies or communications nodes. If a mission uses objective markers, it will state where they are located on the battlefield. These can be represented using any suitable marker, but we recommend using round markers that are 40mm in diameter. Looking at the two concepts above, I think there is merit in the concept of an Combined Arms version of them. Having a large bike unit to push up early to take up board space and objectives, allows for a terminator unit coming in from reserve to be in a better position sooner. Effectively your fast units speed up the table to take early control, and your terminator unit(s) drop in to hold onto that control. In theory this should benefit from the best of both lists.
