About this deal

I was immersed in this story right from the beginning. The chapters are short and something big happens in almost every one so you feel that need to keep going and see what happens. There is a real chase and sense of urgency and you are just waiting for the truth to be outed. So why did I give Brian Klein's novel a 4-star rating? Well, the quality of the plot is "GREAT" whereas the quality of the prose can described as "JUST OKAY". I think the novel could have benefited from a robust editing process. There are lots of clumsy/clunky sentences in the novel. Like the best thrillers, much of the novel is fast-moving, not dwelling too long on characters or set-up but, instead, focusing on pumping up the tension and delivering on the action. Senator John Franklin, hailed as the ‘Great Unifier’, secures the Republican Presidential nomination and seems destined for the Oval Office. Despite the sixty-seven year interval and a span of thirteen thousand miles, these events are indelibly linked.

With The Führer's Prophecy, bestselling author Brian Klein delivers everything you could ask of a first-rate thriller. Once each box was opened they emptied them, with US Dollars, Euros, English Pounds and Argentinian Pestos. One box alone contained twenty solid gold bars and other boxes were crammed with jewellery, designer watches and hundreds of loose gemstones. Bormann, the ultimate arch-manipulator, had known this day was coming for months and had prepared a surprise to lift his beloved Führer’s spirits.Shit, Pedro, look at the size of these beauties!” Ricardo was the first to break the vow of silence. In the palm of one of his clawlike hands he held a loose pile of enormous uncut diamonds, the smallest of which weighed at least ten carats. What course would have history taken if rather than ending their lives in a Berlin bunker at the close of World War Two, Adolf Hitler and his wife, Eva Braun, had instead escaped? Firstly, it feels derivative. The Boys from Brazil covered similar ground of Hitler's children surviving in a far more sinister and intriguing way. It’s a complex plan and one that requires the support of the criminal underworld to execute. Accordingly, Franklin recruits a team of mercenaries and terrorists only too happy to do his bidding. For, it emerged, the reviled Nazi leader had not killed himself in a Berlin bunker in 1945 but had instead fled to Argentina with wife Eva Braun where he built two things: a pharmaceutical empire, and a family to continue his despicable work in future generations.

I have always been fascinated by conspiracy theories; the Roswell UFO incident, JFK’s assassination, the moon landings, Princess Diana’s car crash, all come to mind. A. I think a bit of both, to be honest. I’d had the idea for over 25 years and my love of thrillers meant I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it, when it came to turning the idea into an actual book. Detective Chief Inspector Nicolas Vargas of the Buenos Aries Police Department sets out to solve the bank heist that had taken place in Buenos Aires. During the investigation, Vargas realises the gravity of the case and the potential geopolitical turmoil that could be unleashed on solving the crime. The inspector and his assistants doggedly follow the leads even while being pitted against extremely powerful, resourceful and ruthless adversaries who are more than determined to attain their nefarious designs against all odds. It took the three men a whole eight months until the tunnel was completed. They were smart lighting up the tunnel standing inside the giant vault. This he now plans to release into Israel’s water supply so that the Jewish race will, in effect, be wiped out over the course of a few generations.

I also loved the way the story develops, leading us across the globe, and how it shows us many different perspectives, from those of the cold-blooded killers to the casualties in waiting. Q. Given your long association with driving shows, how much of a petrol head would you say you are? Without giving anything away, the final scenes – where the Israeli national intelligence agency Mossad shoot it out with the Taliban – will have you jumping out of your seat in excitement, and it ends on a killer cliff-hanger that will have you at the front of the queue when the third and final instalment of Klein’s The Reich Trilogy is released. Richard Franklin, CEO of the Franklin Pharmaceutical Corporation, reached for the receiver of the red phone on his desk that hadn’t rung for over two years. There was only one person in the world who had the number. Despite the sixty-seven-year interval and a span of thirteen thousand miles, these events are indelibly linked.Robert Ludlum did it best with "The Holcroft Covenant", as has Robert Harris in his masterpiece "Fatherland". Read those if you're looking for a superb alternate-reality future thriller ("Fatherland") or a edge-of-your-sit thriller about the Nazi's plan to build a Forth Reich ("Holcroft"). We’ve hit ninety of the one hundred and twenty boxes on our list. I’m guessing we’ve landed well over a hundred million dollars. The lorry is bulging, so I suggest we get the hell out of here.” Senator John Franklin, hailed as the 'Great Unifier', secures the Republican Presidential nomination and seems destined for the Oval Office. Despite the sixty-seven year interval and a span of thirteen thousand miles, these events are indelibly linked. A. I just want them to be kept on the edge of their seats as they read the novel, and to enjoy it as a work of fiction. A. For the last 30 years the only books I have read have all been thrillers. It’s a genre I absolutely love and I have often read four books on a seven-day holiday. I love the escapism they offer to the reader and I particularly like that feeling of being so hooked on a story that I literally can’t put the book down until I finish a particular section. That feeling of excitement was something I tried very hard to create when I wrote The Counterfeit Candidate and hopefully I managed to pull it off!

And so the life-long thriller fiction fan spent every day of the next three months putting all his creativity and technical knowhow to good use in another medium. Some of the changes of points of view would have been solved if the publisher had added breaks between paragraphs. In this exclusive extract from new alternative history political thriller The Counterfeit Candidate, we encounter three thieves as they break into the vaults of a Buenos Aires bank, and unwittingly set off a chain of events connected to a closely-guarded secret that will have explosive outcomes. Not one word is wasted in this thrilling tale which brings everything to the stage – plots and double plots, bullet-drenched battles, torture, and murder.

By contrast, The Counterfeit Candidate (2021) is a Nazi-themed mix of the police procedural and alternative history genres, which echoes Fatherland (1992 novel). Based solely on its Nazi-themed bank heist plot, Brian Klein's debut novel also resembles Spike Lee-directed movie, The Inside Man (2006) They are, though, always one step behind and it will all come down to the wire in a breath-taking showdown pitting Franklin’s forces against the Israeli national intelligence agency, Mossad. This is not my usual genre of choice, political thrillers, but I am trying to branch out this year and embrace the things I don't normally read, so I jumped at the chance to look into the debut book from Brian Klein. so they go with the grandson of one of the most heinous destructive persons in human history (caucasian) as his lineage hence grandson is a leader snd figurehead in the (specifically) republican party of the united states? sure, ok. The Counterfeit Candidate is a pulsating, debut novel from BAFTA, award-winning, television Writer/Director, Brian Klein. The intricate political crime thriller is set in North and South America and the intriguing plot revolves around one of the most controversial conspiracy theories of all time.
