About this deal

So the big Canon is a ten year old door stopper, despite being an impressive bit of engineering. Video is such a throw away world! The XL1S features the exclusive XL interchangeable lens-mount system which, in addition to exclusive interchangeable video lenses, also makes possible the use of a range of Canon’s extensive lineup of EF lenses for EOS 35mm cameras when outfitted with an optional EF mount adapter. The system enables users to select the most appropriate lens for each individual shooting situation, regardless of purpose, application or shooting conditions. Absolutely : the XL1 was , and remains , a decent piece of kit - hence colleges still use them for teaching vide0 students - it is probably the video equivalent of the Pentax K1000 ! I only use imovie to edit and just want to film holidays, my children, family events etc is this any good for me?? rotary heads, helical scanning system DV system (Consumer digital VCR SD system) Digital component recording

Okay, so if your reading this your probably in the market for an upgrade from cameras like the XM2 XM1 and any little handy cams. This piece of kit is a little more hardcore than the xm2 which I have owned for about 3-4 years and recently sold to buy an XL1s. I have material I shot on low band U-matic with a Sony DXC M3A some twenty years ago which still looks perfectly acceptable , never mind older stuff shot on 16mm film , so having the latest technology is not an imperative . var isSafari = /constructor/i.test(window.HTMLElement) I really don't know anything about this camera except for it's specs which I just looked up via Google. It appears to record interlaced SD video on MiniDV cassettes. That raises several questions in my mind:

Size 1/3″, approx. 680,000 pixels (total), Progressive Scan CCD x3 (charge-coupled device) with horizontal pixel shift The XL1s is certainly a great step in the direction of the progressive filmmaker/graduate looking to Resolution, including low light IQ, was the unknown for me. Is a top-line pro-grade SD camera still acceptable, and how does it compare to the dodgy brothers HD cameras I'm using? I read that DV was 704 scan lines (one pixel per scan line), compared to 720 or 1080 for HD.make it with the field of t.v/media/film production. It isn't HD but this shouldn't matter the quality waitUntilClose: typeof mcxPresetParam.waitUntilClose === 'boolean' ? mcxPresetParam.waitUntilClose : false,

Mini DV tapes seem readily available, and a read of Wiki on the subject suggests that quite a lot of commercial work is still recorded to tape. Maybe that's outdated info, given the speed of gear upgrading in the video industry! PCM digital recording: 16 bit (48 kHz/2 channels); 12 bit (32 kHz/4 channels) Synchronous 4-channel recording is possible The Canon XL2 succeeds the XL1S, which has garnered high praise in the market since its launch in July 2001. Inheriting the outstanding integrated design and innovative features of its predecessor, the XL2 boasts vastly improved image quality, functionality and operability to meet the performance needs of professional videographers. PCM digital sound; 16- bit (48 kHz/2ch); 12 bit (32 kHz/ 2 from 4 ch); 12-bit (32 kHz/4 ch simultaneous) But old video wasn't good enough, even then, and to be honest, today's 1080 HD probably isn't quite there yet, either. Otherwise, why would there be such a push to 2.7k and 4k? Yet most stills cameras seem to have settled on around 20mp, and 12mp is plenty for most things. navigator.userAgent.indexOf(' OPR/') >= 0;

Helicopters are an interesting problem because the usual "just use a tripod" simply doesn't apply. Handholding would probably give you a much more stable image than bolting the camera to the airframe. I wonder if some sort of small steadycam rig like a Merlin might work? They can be challenging to master but it seems to me like it could be the right tool for the job (short of one of those gyro-stabilized rigs...). Long and short of it, I now have a camera that records in sufficiently high definition to allow me to produce decent quality videos. If I make money from this project then I can always upgrade later, but for now my primary mission is to get quality production with the most options available. Read full reviewprobability: typeof mcxPresetParam.probability === 'number' ? mcxPresetParam.probability : 100, //0 - 100% If defects or damages are caused by the use of unauthorized parts or by service other than by Canon USA's factory service centers or authorized service facilities; The Canon XL2 features the exclusive XL interchangeable lens-mount system, which enables users to select the most appropriate lens for each individual shooting situation. In addition to exclusive interchangeable video lenses, when outfitted with an optional EF mount adapter, the system also permits the use of a range of Canon EF lenses for EOS 35mm SLR cameras. One thing to consider is future-proofing. If you expect this footage to still be relevant 5 or more years from now, think about what might happen if YouTube improves their service. This has happened in the past - they didn't initially offer HD video storage, for example. So if you choose to shoot lower-quality video today based on the fact that it will be posted to YouTube you may come to regret it in the future.
