About this deal

The ratio between the horizontal and the vertical side of the display. Some of the standard and widely used aspect ratios are 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 and 16:10. Colour uniformity also looks good; only at 100% brightness do we see a single bad result in the upper left quadrant of 3.1; otherwise we have values between 0 and 2. This panel represents colours very uniformly. The only thing that changed is you've switched to GPU-side FRC instead of monitor-side FRC. (Basically, NVIDIA GPU does temporal dithering GPU side instead of the monitor doing temporal dithering monitor-side). The NTSC (1953) color space is introduced in 1953 by the FCC with the appearance of color television and has a wider gamut than the sRGB. Approximate diagonal size of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the diagonal is calculated from the width and height of the screen.

For those that read our review on the XL2720Z, we mentioned a special mode that BenQ has included in some of their gaming monitors, labeled as “Instant Mode”. On the XL2720Z, and now the XL2430T, it is imperative that you enable this function to get the best gaming performance out of the XL2430T. Activating “Instant Mode” significantly reduced input lag values over leaving it disabled. The differences can be seen below:So, i just bought my new BenQ XL2430t and i've found this amazing forum while looking for some settings for the monitor itself. I'm kinda noob in wich concerns to monitor specifications and tweeks but as far as i'm concerned, i've learned the basics by now. I'm sorry if i'm posting this in the wrong section but couldn't find any related to this matter. The Area slider is something we haven’t seen before. It is intended to selectively reduce blur depending on image content. In our tests, it only seemed to cause tearing and jitter artifacts when turned up too high. It comes set to 10, and that's where it works well. This happens once in 10-15 boots. This is really annoying me as I have no clue where is this coming from...

First up we measure the tone response, which reveals a measured display gamma of 1.9, a little too bright for our liking (this is at roughly 25% brightness, for reference). The gray ramp is a bit wonky, but nothing too out of the ordinary. BenQ’s XL gaming monitors have been a consistent favorite of mine when it comes to input lag, as they typically measure some of the lowest numbers on the market. Like the XL2720Z we reviewed earlier this year, the XL2430T offers a native 144hz refresh rate, which will reduce input lag even more over 60hz sources. Of course, you would need a PC capable of outputting a native 144hz refresh rate to take advantage of lower input lag values. However, even at 60hz, the XL2430T proves to be a formidable force when it comes to input latency. The XL2430T isn't the best choice for many tasks—from a professional standpoint, it's a suitable companion to competitive gamers only. You could certainly still use it for casual tasks like web browsing or watching YouTube, but there are hordes of much cheaper monitors without all the bells and whistles that are just as suitable for those tasks. Viewing angles are a traditional weakness of TN displays, but things have moved on a great deal since the early days. There’s a bit of colour shift at extreme angles, but otherwise things are quite good; you can certainly sit off-angle and still have a good-looking display.

Features

If you're on the prowl for a high-end gaming monitor, the 30T is a great place to start. If you already own a similar BenQ monitor and are looking to upgrade, we recommend waiting for the next option in the lineup. With technologically superior "G Sync" versions of these monitors on the way, you might find waiting to pull the trigger isn't so bad after all. Behind The Screens Ultra Street Fighter IV features an incredibly useful lag simulation mode, allowing frame-by-frame testing of input lag. Low BlueLight is a feature found on most BenQ monitors. It reduces blue and warms the image to reduce eye fatigue. Using the Standard picture mode already gets you pretty close to D65, so we recommend leaving this one alone. The BenQ XL2430T has enough inputs for almost all of your sources. You will find a DVI, D-Sub, DisplayPort, and two HDMI connections. Color accuracy is important, whether you’re playing games or just plowing through workaday tasks. But we look for the finest accuracy from expensive professional products, not gaming monitors. The out-of-box color and grayscale numbers we recorded handily exceed other monitors in the class and make calibration a choice rather than a requirement. The only area where a bit of trial-and-error is needed is the gamma preset selection. Change the setting from three to five and you’re in business with a near-perfect 2.2 curve.

The XL2430T isn't exactly a power hog, but it doesn't offer an Eco power-saving mode like the BenQ XL2420G. It consumed 27 watts of power during my tests, compared with the BenQ XL2420G's 30 watts. However, the BenQ XL2420G only used 14 watts while running in Eco mode. A color gamut is a visual illustration of the millions of colors a display can produce. While certain professional work in design and editing requires a "wider" color gamut, the standard monitor gamut ( sRGB) is typically fine for most web-based tasks—and for most video games. The Spyder4Elite software spits out a rating of 4 out of 5, not bad at all! Points were deducted for the overly bright gamma and luminance uniformity, but every other test revealed an excellent monitor, on par with IPS-style displays in many areas. Good job, Zowie-a-brand-by-BenQ! Impressions The static contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce simultaneously, for example, within one and the same frame/scene. After the initial calibration, we get our initial results, showing that the display reaches 99% of the sRGB standard. We can also see that the monitor hits our calibration targets almost exactly, with very low Delta-E values of 0.5 and 0.6 for White Point and 50% gray, respectively. These are promising signs for a TN-style monitor, so let’s proceed.Disclaimer: Blur Busters disclaims responsibility for any damages. Do at own risk. It works on my BenQ XL2720Z, but your mileage will vary. The dynamic contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce over time, for example, in the course of playing a video. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. There are various panel technologies. Each has its own specific features - viewing angles, color reproduction, response time, brightness/contrast, production cost, etc. The image quality depends directly on the type of the display panel used.
