About this deal

The colour appeared consistent throughout the power levels – at least, certainly more consistent than the AD200 and AD360II – and the recycle times were very short, even when shooting high speed sync. The open architecture design allows it to be integrated into over 40 leading physical access control systems through our PACS Alliance program. This enables customers to choose the system that best fits their requirements. The design and construction of the carry bag itself is sturdy, and the componentry fits snugly and securely into the pre-cut foam inserts. Offering 100Ws of power in a compact body (sizing in at just 120x76x76 mm, of the size of a can for scale!), as well as 390 full-power flashes from a single charge of its rechargeable battery! This makes the AD100 Pro perfect for traveling photographers, event photographers, as well as any on-location shoots, due to its wireless, portable and lightweight nature.

Both are 4800K which is equivalent to outside daylight. The strength of the modelling lamp really helps with focusing in low light situations and seeing what the light will do without having to do test shots. Connectivity G2 looks like it uses a separate DFU driver(?) that apparently is properly signed for Windows 10. G3 does not use an installer and does not add a driver to the system. Taking out the batteries With both units featuring Godox’s 2.4GHz X-System Radio Receiver built in, setting up a shoot has never been easier. The foam in the bag could be better designed to be able to make better use of the empty space after you remove the bulb & Bowens adapter and fit them onto the strobe If the Godox application doesn't recognize the device, consider trying a different cable. Some USB cables are solely for charging and do not have the connections for data transfer. And, of course, your cable might just be bad.One of the biggest advances found on the new Profoto B10 is it lets you color balance the LED modeling light. This is super useful if you shoot video and want to use constant light with all of the light modifiers you already own. It's also handy if you want to shoot natural light photos and add constant light to your scene. The Godox AD400 also has a powerful modeling lamp, but the color cannot be changed to balance between incandescent and daylight white balances. In this regard, the Profoto B10 is the better option for a useful modeling lamp. The AD200 Pro and the AD200 have an awful lot in common; both lights offer 200Ws of power, a transmission range of 100m, TTL and HSS capabilities, 32 channels, around 500 full-power flashes, as well as both offering a lightweight and portable flash photography option.

Available as cylindrical, mortise, mortise deadbolt or exit trim, the AD Series features built-in access control sensors and is compatible with a wide range of credential technologies.

Thoughts…

The Godox AD400 has a Bowens style mount built in, but Profoto, Broncolor, and Elinchrom accessories can be added to the front to work with any accessories you may already own. This is a massive value and makes the AD400 the most versatile light we have ever tested when it comes to accessories. Built-In Godox 2.4G Wireless X System with Great Compatibility: AD400Pro is compatible with Canon E-TTL II, Nikon i-TTL autoflash, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus and Panasonic TTL autoflash system with support for 1/8000s high-speed sync. I was pretty close to it, but to be fair, it’s a 4ft octabox. With a smaller box, an aperture of, say f/4, I could’ve gotten quite a bit more distance and possibly been able to lower the ISO. ISO800 isn’t unreasonable for video, though. The build quality of the AD400Pro is very similar to its big brother the AD600Pro, however with a reduced weight of 1Kg. The portable size still maintains all the pro-level features that you see on larger models. MULTIPLE ACCESSORIES COMPATIBILITY:

No 1/3 stop power adjustment option on the strobe itself (but you can still do 1/3 stop increments from the trigger)

Li-Ion Battery Powered

Technically Profoto may be slightly more accurate by an extremely small margin in color mode but you could also make the argument that the Godox is a more well-rounded flash because it has extremely accurate color while in freeze mode. We gave the technical win to Profoto the video but this is certainly up for debate. Remote Features Also, the .rar format has changed in recent updates so you may simply need to update your archiving application (e.g., update Winzip to the latest version). Or you can use the latest version of the open source 7Zip. Disable driver signing [Windows 10, G1] To learn more about the difference between these two flashes, as well as the pros and cons of this flash, read our AD200 vs AD200 Pro comparison blog. The remotes for both flashes are pretty similar aside from one major missing feature on Profoto's. The Godox XPro remote shows the output of the flash on the remote, while the Profoto doesn't. You can still control the power output up or down, but the remote itself doesn't display what the power output will be.

It also comes with a set of screws and an allen key for fixing the included Bowens Mount adapter ring to the unit. This comes in handy when traveling so that the flash can’t be accidentally turned on and drain the battery. It is...if you either know what you are doing or are willing to do the work and make lots of mistakes and discoveries while you are figuring out how to use a light. The B10 does also have Bluetooth and can connect to a smartphone via an app that can control and show you the power output of the lights. This is a great feature, but we would rather have had this information show up on the remote. Remote Range

Wrong USB port

However, Godox learned from the AD200 and what they learned they applied to the Pro. On the AD200 Pro they improved the recycle time from 0.01-2.1s to 0.01 to 1.8s, as well as offering a greater choice of power ranges (1/256-1/1 in 1/10th stop increments instead of 1/128-1/1 in 8 stops). They also improved upon the design of the flash by adding a sunken LCD screen to the unit which protects the screen against damage in the case of being dropped or blown over. Normally when I shoot TTL, it’s when I’m forced to bring my camera along to family events. I’ll set my camera to aperture priority with -2EV compensation to underexpose the ambient and pop an SB-900 in the hotshoe bounced off the ceiling set to +2EV to bring the subject up where I want it.
