Connect with other readers in the article on Pro Tools vs Logic: Review, Comparison + Rating as well. These headphones come with two different pads. We have retested our Sound measurements using the 'Analytical' pads and added graphs into our text. However, the default graphs use the 'Balanced' pads, and the scoring of these tests hasn't changed. LCD2C - This is a special headphone. It’s no longer top of the line (TOTL), but it’s based on technology that was TOTL not so long ago and exhibits a characteristic which I impute to TOTL headphones, namely that it’s both excellent in at least one way and flawed in at least one other. Of these three headphones, the LCD2C is the smoothest and warmest, yet it still does better than the HD 600 at retrieving details from the music with its good transient response. It allows you to chill out and have an easy listen but also rewards you for paying attention. Bass is a real highlight, tight and with good extension and texture and a very even tone, though somewhat less punch than either of the other two headphones. Despite the warm tilt, it images well and the soundstage is not bad. Its two primary flaws are that 1) the warmth is sometimes too much and 2) the smoothness (which I think comes from a wet sound) isn’t always appropriate to the music and can make the LCD2C sound slow. The warmth can be solved with some mild EQ but the wetness is just in this headphone’s nature.

Accessory cables are a big money-maker for people selling them, but don't give any better sound than what's already included. You're much better off saving your money to buy more music or making your studio better rather than wasting it on snake oil or cables. TIER 4a: I re-evaluated the Tier 4a HiFiMan headphones for this review. This time I compared them directly to the Beyerdynamic T70 using popular music with heavy and light bass content. I found that the HiFiMan models do not match the T70/70p in transparency and they clearly belong a step below in tier ranking. s are VERY comfortable. You can sit in them for long hours without any sort of pain or headache and that’s all because of huge amount of foam in headband as well as very big velour pads. Your ears will be wrapped up in them very comfortably. There’s only one issue with them. Heat. They can also get your ears pretty warm after an hour or two.

There's moderate clamp force out of the box, meaning it will be noticeable even after an hour or two of listening. These are the genuine MADE IN G E RM A NY article from the world's oldest and best maker of professional headphones for almost 100 years; these aren't rubbish from China. For the price, I can't see why anyone wouldn't love a set of these. You can spend so much more and get so much less. With the DT 1990 Pro, The treble isn’t cutting or dialed up. The clean edges on vocals and notes is all there, its just not overly sharp or cutting.

Sound

The frequency response is gapless. There is no bandwidth where you feel these don’t represent. The bass is big and full, the mids delightful and the treble all there. No frequency outplays another and everything is in its place. Comfort
