About this deal

I acknowledge opinions differ and as a relative of mine used to say “Different Strokes for Different Folks! The story was slow to start, I was initially ‘put off’ by the first sentence which reminded me of a line from a song, which kept ruminating in my head. I can't help thinking that if the author favoured graphic details so much they might have been better used describing the punishment rather than the crime. He was a proud and devoted husband and father, and was possibly one of the few da's on the streets never to lay a finger on any of his children, a fact that bore testament to his temperament. In winter, the clothes would be brought in, frozen and as stiff as boards, to defrost and dry overnight on a wooden clothes maiden placed in front of the dying embers of the fire.

In this book they apparently have 7 children, but in the Lovely Lane book 4 the characters with the same name appear to have 4 and they seem to be a lot younger. After her remarkable flights from fact in her statements on abortion, it's disappointing to find that Dorries is just not very good at making things up.

I like most of Nadine Dorries books, there sad, happy they tell compelling stories about truth's that are swept under the carpet. There is a 2 year time period from the point where we are introduced to Alice's character and when her role in the story really starts. Nadine Dorries made her name in parliament trying to make it more difficult for women to decide what to do with their own uteruses, but it’s not that she would judge her characters for controlling their fertility. Ice on the inside of windows and yellow patterned formica kitchen tables may not mean a lot to those who have no experience of them, but to those of us who have, Nadine Dorries book hit the spot and I for one was taken right back in time. Some brought back disturbing memories for me so I found it hard to carry on reading but I did, it's not too bad a read if you can get past some of the issues, I will be reading the next book.

Neuware - The complete story in one single volume of Nadine Dorries' bestselling 'Four Streets' trilogy. Sean and Alice start a new life in Chicago and the mystery of Father James's death begins to unravel. He realized as he walked over to her that there was no reason on God's earth why he, a complete and total stranger, should be taking a mug of sweet tea to a woman he had never met in his life before and might never meet again. I loved this, I was dreading to reach the end, the characters were so real and I wanted the story to go on and on.

of our deliveries are made by Royal Mail as we think they give the best service and cover all areas of the UK. Her first novel, THE FOUR STREETS, was inspired by memories of her childhood, particularly her Irish grandmother who she was very close to.I personally warmed to most of the characters, even Alice as her issues in life were pretty hard for a woman in the 50's to deal with.
