About this deal

Book 3 in the LoveLight series ~ although a standalone, previous characters made quite a few appearances. Apparently owning the bakery at Inglewild’s most romantic destination does not help one’s love life—despite her best efforts. I'll probably go back and listen to book 2 if I can find it on Libby so I can see what Beckett and Evie have to offer. Layla has no faith in men because of past experience so she doesn't even notice them until she actually does start noticing Caleb. Chefs kiss*I never thought anything could rival my love for Beckett or Luka, but if anyone knows how to clone a Caleb Alvarez, I would pay (in butter croissants!

She doesn’t interact with her family, who doesn’t understand her decision to open a bakery, and the main characters from the first two books come and go infrequently.

if you've read the first two books we've a better idea than he does at the start as to why else this might be 😉 - bless his fam for their "good intentions" chats. I read the first two on Kindle Unlimited but missed the boat on this one as they were picked up by a traditional publisher and removed from the platform. I like how I never have to really worry, so much of the angst is self induced and there is plenty of comfort, support, good and bad advice. Caleb thinking he was a bad date but he's so considerate and sweet and Layla is too tongue-tied because she finds him so attractive 🥹 Why can't this be my life? He is also super hot, but Layla never noticed (even though he was in her bakery for butter croissants and coffee three days a week like clockwork) until he saves her from an especially bad date.

They’d make sure the other knew their feelings instead of keep playing along like it meant nothing for them. And she didn’t really think of him in that way until she ran into him at a restaurant away from their small town when she was on a failed date. She has since embraced it and loves her bakery, her job, and her location, but she would very much like to be in love.

I'm not really a baker, as I hate measuring, and cooking, but everything else about Layla hit me in the feels. Not much building of their relationship or getting to know them individually outside of their physical relationship. Mixed Signals is a standalone romance and the third book in the Lovelight series, a collection of interconnected novels. Second book of the series and I’m glad at-least it had dual pov and I think Evelyn , she was everything your typical influencers aren’t and by that i mean , an amazing person who had such beautiful chemistry with Beckett who was so good , so dreamy it was all hearts and bows .

When Caleb asks her to help him improve his dating skills by giving her amazing dates, she decides it is the perfect way to recharge her energies. I sigh and glance over his shoulder at the bar, trying to catch the eye of our beleaguered waitress. No one is really alone in these stories if they will just look up and realize that others are there for them. We also met Caleb, who comes into the bakery several times a week for a coffee and one of Layla’s sweet treats.

As the two share their dating woes, Caleb reveals that he often gets ahead of himself in relationships. Even in the middle of the summer when the humidity is so thick it feels like I'm walking through Jell-O, the sticky heat making my hair curl. The only downsides were the inevitable conflict at the end, which was a bit meh and the repetitive descriptions of Layla tasting/smelling like sugar, strawberries, champagne, peaches etc-it gave me toothache! I then went and read some goodreads reviews and found out about the annoyingly unnecessary third act breakup… and those always piss me off - so I’m content with the fact that I stopped when I did. mixed signals is the third book in the series and it features layla, our favorite baker, and caleb, the human personification of the sun. Thankfully, Layla could see how unfair he was being with himself, falling a bit more in love with him for trying so hard. A small-town baker learns to raise her expectations for love with some help from a handsome local teacher in this sunny romantic comedy.
