About this deal

The main colours I've had are deep 'electric' blue through to emerald green and an occasional deep red (different colour to natural flame colour). It's important to do these only after all cooking has been done on the fire and when there is little wind so the smoke can rise up rather than into campers' faces. They mention that it lasts a very long time, it works well and that it gives a great effect to a fire pit evening. I have used these all year (several packs), to the amazement of many onlookers who are surprised at the changing colours of my/our camp fire.

AS IT GOT DARK I CASUALLY EMPTIED THE CONTENTS IN MY POCKET(DONT DO THAT-STAINED) AND SAID HEY KIDS WATCH THIS AS I DISPERSED SOME IN A WAVING MOTION OVER THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES IMMEDIATELY STARTED DANCING IN BRILLIANT COLORS! I am going to use this lot to coat some foraged pine cones, (that I will use flour and water glue on to make the burning less toxic and less liable to chemical reactions and dangerous smoke) . This fire dust really did makes the flames go colourful, I wasn't expecting much but I was impressed! The related products of magic fire powder: A magic tricks for magicians to create a happy atmosphere.

But, to make the colors last longer, I've created wax patties which are made just like the Wax and Woodchips fire starters on the Firestarters page. You can always use the old way of sliding a length of garden hose inside a piece of copper tubing and tossing that in the fire.Pour melted wax into the cup to just cover the chemical and quickly stir it with an unfolded paperclip or other small stir rod.

I HAD THIS IN MY PURSE FOR NEARLY A YEAR WAITING FOR A FIRE WHEN MY NIECES AND NEPHEWS WOULD BE ABOUT TO WOW THEM. Color-printed paper is reasonably safe to burn, although it may release cinders that can ignite nearby objects. For a multicolored fire, it’s best to add several pine cones, each treated with one colorant, or a mix of dried colored sawdust. It will get old if you use these all the time, but an occasional surprise makes a campfire at that special place or time something to be remembered.

The description here says to use one packet, but the description for the higher quantities say "for best results use three packets. When these chemicals are added to a wood fire, a rainbow effect is more likely due to the chemical composition of the fuel. The salts don’t actually burn in the flames, so they remain in the soot rather than in gases around the fire. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.
