If you are not familiar with manga, this is a great introduction to the style and themes commonly used by Japanese authors. At first i was like yeah it's a pretty cute book the facial expressions in this are spot on but i wasn't getting the hype. As the Day of Reckoning dawns, the Elric brothers, their father Hohenheim, and all of their allies battle to the death against the homunculi's 'father. With the introduction at the end of book 1 of Roy Mustang, Flame Alchemist, my interest picked up greatly. And in pursuit of the ultimate alchemical treasure, the Philosopher's Stone, their enemies are even more ruthless than they are. In an alchemical ritual gone wrong, Edward Elric lost his arm and his leg, and his brother Alphonse became nothing but a soul in a suit of armor. Grace lives alone in Ballybrady, a little village on the sublimely beautiful east coast of Northern Ireland.

She loved this manga, she said the story was interesting and exciting and she is desperate for the next volume. Their brotherhood (ha) is beautifully developed right from the beginning, and I can already tell that not only is this story going to be insanely amazing, but the characters are going to be the death of me as well.

Because that is what all the great stories have in common, the ability to answer what it means to be human. The story is really starting to pick up, and this volume continues exploring the themes presented in the first two volumes.
