Bonus features include insight and observation from special guests, and this Blu-ray disc comes in a special 46 page hardcover art book that includes behind the scenes and making of photos. The discs are packaged in a hard-shell box with new album art, and a bound casebook holding the vinyl along with new imagery not previously seen. But honestly I’m just glad they decided not to do stupid picture discs like they did with Lateralus. Both CD and these cards have snug pockets to put them in near the inside of each cover of the hardcover book.

On the downside while comparing editions, the new book release has only 7 tracks as opposed to 10 on the deluxe original, which admittedly are only short interludes but to me complete the record as a listening experience. The official vinyl LP versions have 9 songs (they include 'Legion Inoculant' and 'Mockingbeat', which are not included on the CD) and are roughly 84 and a half minutes long. As a Tool album, I hope every fan will find in this something to which they can relate and I hope this review, such as it is, will inspire people to see this as a 'beyond' Tool work.There is an EU release that credits Sony Music as a label and other differences of distribution listed on the small print of the sticker. Formed in 1990 in Los Angeles, California – Tool emerged with a heavy metal sound on their first studio album, Undertow in 1993. This is truly deep and complex music which will keep giving and revealing more of itself to you the more you listen. You also get a download code for the video track included in the earlier edition, so now you can watch it on a decent sized screen whilst listening on proper speakers. The presentation and packaging is also done well, it’s almost like an art book, a little over the top but that's Tool.All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. They're still masters of odd time signatures and 10+ minute songs but other than that, it was tough to find anything that really stood out to me while listening. Photos I have attached are the actual artwork of the album , the portrait one in the description is the only one that is the correct one in this release . Also along with the download of the video, to help make up for a lack of HD screen, included a a small collection of 3D style lenticular cards featuring images from the video. Confused because I’d heard absolutely nothing about it and shocked that it was at such a steep discount.

My previoulsy purchased copies of Undertow and Opiate were underwhelming, particularly given that I generally have appreciated early punk rock tool more than later prog rock Tool.Reading about how Keenan worked on the album around his wine making, it feels like that half focused effort bled through onto the song writing. The included art and etchings on the reverse of the albums look great but doubt it is something I would display. It takes time and repeated listens to appreciate each track but if you commit to it you will find amazing depth as the complexity and utter beauty of this music gets its hooks into you. But even still, after thirteen years of waiting for new material, Tool fans deserved a better thought out album. It is without question that time and money has been spent to ensure such a good pressing of these 5 discs as possible.

The most intense songs on the album are Pneuma and 7empest and they're half the intensity of anything else they've recorded previously. The song is presented on a Blu-ray DVD that features a ground-breaking short film directed by Dominic Hailstone. I didn’t look closely at the first couple, but the poorly pressed one I still have actually has a different runout than what’s listed here (19439-86879-1-SIDE G).
