About this deal

It’s a stable running shoe and Brooks are using their GuideRail technology on that medial side so it's catering for a mild overpronator. Let's touch on the difference between the Brooks Glycerin GTS 19 and the Brooks Transcend 7 midsoles. Like the Glycerin series, the Transcend is a relatively adaptive shoe in nature and is a great option for runners needing stability but something that isn’t obstructive or overly firm. Fans of the Transcend can now find the ultimate cushion and support experience in the Glycerin GTS 19.

I’m going to compare it to the Glycerin 19 which is a neutral shoe that has nothing changed from the medial side to the lateral side. This is a top-of-the-range running shoe with optimized cushioning for completing the longest and most demanding runs at a leisurely pace of over 4:30 minutes per kilometer.Deep flex grooves throughout the shoe, notably the forefoot seem to allow for a degree of flexibility. I really think making all the Rails out of the same midsole material as the rest of the shoe, and maybe DNA Loft foam a touch firmer than here would help the experience leaving the Adrenaline for those who really need heavier duty support. One flat-footed tester, who is also an overpronator, even ran sans insoles; the Transcend’s stability system and cushioned platform gave her all the support she needed.

The Glycerin 19 GTS runs a little bit softer than the Transcend 7, which again I think is a good thing. The Brooks Transcend 7 paved the way for the Brooks Glycerin GTS 19 – setting a precedent for an ever-reliable blend of support and cushioning, now with a new name and refined fit and feel. Everything in the outsole is the same, the only difference between the two of them is as you come up to the midsole which we'll touch on next. That essentially means there's a strap that attaches to the top on the lateral side and to the tongue on the medial side that keeps the tongue in position. We are experiencing a high volume of traffic at the moment, please bear with us whilst we load your page. While it added to the comfort, I did have an issue with the padding on the underside of the tongue getting a little wadded up on the left shoe and pinching the top of my foot a bit.

The toe box allows for good splay of the toes and while it appears shallow, there is enough stretch to accommodate many foot types. You have a full-length DNA Loft cushioning system, so it's designed for your everyday running and someone who's seeking as much cushioning as they can get on a relatively light package. We challenge ourselves to make the best running gear in the world because we want to run in it, too. This is one of those shoes that isn’t flashy in how good it is, it is only when you realize you haven’t thought about an aspect of the shoe does it prove to be good.

By the end of the 13 mile run, there was a lingering soreness, and that continued into the next day - along with substantial quad issues. As you can see from the comparison photos, it really is the same as the new Glycerin, which I tested in the wet with great success. I wore them feeling somewhat fresh, and I wore them feeling beat up after a 5 x 1-mile workout that morning. Jeff: Brooks went with a double-jacquard mesh upper that holds the foot well, breathes just fine, and feels comfortable without being overly plush.

This includes a full ground contact outsole with strategic zones of harder wearing rubber and super plush full-length DNA Loft cushioning. I will test pronation control as will some of other testers and just did the excellent (for me) Kayano 27 which relies on what I feel is a much more sophisticated system which is more adaptive. The geometry of the midsole works even as a midfoot striker, and I believe heel strikers will enjoy them even more. Maybe because I’m such a fanatic of lightweight trainers, such as the Kinvara 10 and the New Balance Fuel Cell Rebel, I’ve found it hard to find something I like that won’t tempt me to take my foot off the brake.
