About this deal

There are many great interior designers there but a few with such a distinctive style as Beata Heuman. Many aspects go into building a home: the architecture, the functionality, the local vernacular, and so on. The highly anticipated debut monograph from one of today’s leading designers championing playful, original interiors infused with Scandinavian flair. This beautifully crafted volume presents Heuman s innovative approach in book form for the very first time. The fact that this hopelessly dreary and already dated style remains the face of a multi billion-pound industry is baffling to me.

We’ve been living with it for the past 6 months and have grown to love it more and more, particularly as we’ve layered it with more pictures and lighting. Beata continued, suggesting this balance is achieved throughout factors beyond lighting, including hard and soft furnishings and paint, which all impact the balance of a room. I love the way she talks about what makes a room personal, what makes it yours; where she finds inspiration and what is behind the choices she has made when working on her client's homes. We’ve chosen a more subtle and clean colour palette of bronze-green and bone for this wallpaper, but have exaggerated the scale further to give it a little extra theatre. Childhood helps to form our understanding of what home is and what we might want it to be; allowing our inner voice to be heard is invaluable when trying to connect with what home means to each of us.Known for her playful and original take on interior design, Swedish designer-of-the-moment Beata Heuman draws inspiration from all kinds of sources. Half the struggle is working out who you are in the first place, but when you take the time to create a harmony between yourself and your living space you cannot but feel alive for it. When I was a child, my world was one road long: the tree-lined drive up to the house where we lived.

True to her spirit of self-expression, Heuman doesn’t offer dictatorial tips, instead hoping to encourage readers to trust their own instincts. Beata Heuman is a Swedish interior designer living in London, who’s original and vibrant work has singled her out for the highest plaudits and earned her a dedicated following. But I did read it cover to cover over the course of a few days and delighted in heuman’s wisdom, humor, and sense of style. It mostly sells clothes, and I have bought quite a few pieces (which are generally made out of old tablecloths and other recycled textiles) but I also own some of its terracotta lamps.
