About this deal

Definitely a fantastic read, though if you are new to Batman, this is not the book for you as it really delves into Batman's history and brings back very obscure things that new readers will definitely not understand. They all come to Mayhew’s island after receiving invitations only to find out this is an Agatha Christie type of situation with someone in the shadows plotting to kill them off one at a time. This title also includes two new story pages written and drawn by Chris Burnham that recap events from “The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul.

There are some wonderful gems contained in here, but I’m still not entirely comfortable with spending so much time essentially going back over what has already been explained to us in minute detail. It’s interesting that, as the title implies, the story affords Batman a chance to reflect on his origin and whether – in the magical world of the DC Universe – Batman would ever take the chance to change things as they unfolded. The beginning and the end of Batman’s story, both coexisting in perfect harmony – as Morrison draws from Frank Miller’s opening and closing acts to Bruce’s life. Together, they must overcome a pair of rival vigilantes with ties to their own tragic pasts-and stay away from each other’s throats long enough to succeed.

This Batman of Zur-en-arrh was so whack, hilarious and great at the same time, I loved every last bit of it. To Morrison, it’s that humanity which defines the character, that makes him so absolutely fascinating. Bruce Wayne is back under the cowl, and to better serve his mission, he's trained heroes around the world, along with the help of longtime allies such as Catwoman and Batwoman. And now, I'm gonna skip The Resurrection of Raʼs al Ghul (because Morrison only wrote 2 issues of this and it wasn't really good), so it's time for the iconic "Batman R. The mixture of fun, violent, and over the top adventures really help Morrison have a ton of fun with this cast.

Sadly, the man has burned me one too many times, and as such, I've learnt to be considerably more discerning. Grant Morrison's interpretation of Batman as an almost superhuman who can defeat every threat when he's well prepared is amazing and iconic. The Damien comes in and rocks their worlds as something that happened a long time ago and has been hidden from Bruce's eyes.

The most important ones are 'Robin Dies at Dawn', 'The Batmen of all Nations' and 'Superman of Planet X'. As with most of Morrison’s work, there’s enough depth to demand more than a couple of re-reads, but I found myself just sitting there and asking, “Is that it? The front cover and the spine of the dust jacket are beautiful and look great on the shelf, and the hardcover itself has a nice Black and White Batman logo on it. He is also the author of the New York Times bestseller Supergods, a groundbreaking psycho-historic mapping of the superhero as a cultural organism.

As they explore the abandoned mansion, clues emerge from moments in the Wayne family’s past, hinting that someone is trying to communicate with them from the past.

This is the beginning of a stunning direction for the World's Greatest Detective that will team him with Catwoman, Batwoman and Batman on international crime-fighting missions against villans like Lord Death Man in Japan, Argentina, and other parts of South America. This story becomes a great murder mystery and also a great study on what makes someone a superhero and how Batman influences different people. This collection includes time-spanning epic graphic novels featuring the cataclysmic events of FINAL CRISIS and the introduction of Batman's son, Damian Wayne!
