The workout library I had access to was simple and easy to follow but limited to one workout per body area and skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced). You had to take out screws on the first strap, so the process has improved, but it’s still not great. Purportedly, these design changes enable Aura to record 16 times more data, and Aura Devices claims the second-gen strap delivers about 95 percent accuracy compared to a DEXA scan — the clinical gold standard for determining body composition.
Despite that, the Aura reading is in the middle or lower middle of what Aura says to be the average range for the population. Once you have the Aura app downloaded on your iPhone and on the Watch app, you can launch the Watch app, check the tutorial and take your first measurement.I also find the sensor too thin, which makes it quite hard to keep my hands still throughout the measurement and not touch each other. HIGH-QUALITY MATERIALS: AURA Strap 2 and the replacement bands are made of only the highest quality materials.

It also explained that the “norm” was based on the general population and did not necessarily take into consideration my individual metabolism, lifestyle choices, or my personal norms. It's important to note that the device does come with other sizes for this Loop band in the box, but if I use a larger one then it sits quite loose on my wrist.
Software distributed by AURA Devices with or without the AURA Devices brand (including, but not limited to system software) is not covered by this Warranty. But while I appreciated the extra analysis and context, I didn’t love that a lot of it is locked behind a paywall. The method that you take that measurement has vastly improved not only from a process point of view but also in the reliability of taking a measurement. When if the concept is super interesting, it’s mildly amusing to first read a complaint about Garmins inaccurate data and than a review wich guesstimates body composition. Part of the Watch screen displays small green bubbles that look like the electrodes on the outside of the case that fill as the measurement takes place and on a successful measurement, displays data in the Watch app. Aura has switched from the softer nylon material strap it used previously for a silicone one and it’s also including additional sized straps in the box to make sure you get a good fit. One might argue that a thinner sensor makes the device overall better to use on a daily basis, but honestly, I don't know about other users, but I only use this device/strap solely to take my measurements (I try at least) and right after it I switch back to my Nike band. Please refer to the licensing agreement accompanying the software for details of your rights with respect to its use. However, the app noted that having visceral fat below the normal range might indicate I don’t have enough for my bodily needs and to check with my doctor if my visceral fat was out of range for a sustained period of time.
The Aura Strap 2 has ben useful in the time I've had it, but there are a few issues that drove me to use other options instead. Aura is very much more a health and wellness tool that will probably be mostly of interest to dieters or people simply interested to understand more about their bodies.
