About this deal

like the other characters in this book, he doesn’t have any personality to speak of, and his most defining characteristic is that he is into Cricket). It was aggressively fine, and for a very niche audience looking for something light and easy to read as we head into the winter months. but a novel about the genesis of a real gossip instagram page co-penned by said gossip instagrammer and former Cosmo Op-Ed edited Jessica Goodman. DeuxMoi will executive produce along with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman of Berlanti Productions.

However, keeping her identity a secret is more important than ever while she leaks celebrity gossip for millions of viewers. As mentioned above, this book is based off the inception of DeuxMoi so I just kept trying to piece who is who and what is what when it comes to the story.

Follows Cricket Lopez the assistant of one of the most notorious celebrity stylists that will become famous on Instagram. You don't even know what Cricket looks like, you don't even know what they have in common and or her personality in general through this whole thing that would make him fall in love with her. I’ll admit, I have been a devotee of the Deux Moi account for some time and bought this book merely out of support for my favorite content creator. Plus, there's a steamy new love interest who she meets through her online persona—except she has no idea if she can truly trust his motives. It's crazy how an anonymous figure can go viral and even get a book deal just by sharing + reposting unverified gossip when we journalists have to bust our asses to talk to sources, verify tip-offs and fact-check everything.

That being said, the book flows well and it’s a great book to keep you more than entertained on a flight without WiFi (If you know, you know) and capturing the urgency of not being connected 24/7. From its creator comes a fun debut novel that promises to be… everything you might expect from DeuxMoi. Now, it feels like in a lot of rom-coms, there really isn't as much focus on the heroine's corporate life. Observer praised the book for capturing "how celebrity gossip culture has been completely democratized by armchair commentators" and commented that the reflections throughout on the nature of internet anonymity were surprisingly thoughtful. You just wonder how in the world she has a job and how in the world did she even get to the level that she was at.When she drunkenly restarts her old Instagram as a source of celebrity gossip, it gains more traction – and problems – than she ever imagined. The real DeuxMoi operators are anonymous but in this book, the site is managed by an abused fashion intern named Cricket.

This book focuses on Cricket Lopez, an assistant to a popular celebrity stylist who has a reputation that isn't the most favorable in the fashion industry.more to come over on my IG, but if you’re a fan of DM and wondering what this book is about—give it a go!

The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. Her boss wonders why she’s disappearing on the job, her friends are increasingly irritated by her dedication to the account, and she has celebrities, investors, and journalists approaching her with bright-eyed interest. What a fun deep dive into celebrity culture, the cutthroat world of fashion and the digital landscape. For nonfans, this autofiction is reminiscent of other of-the-moment bad-boss books like Leigh Stein's Self Care . Not to mention Cricket turned into a 13 yr old with her first crush when she and Ollie first start talking. The writing and plot were very weak in my opinion, and I just didn't care for or about any of the characters, who, to a person, seemed remarkably shallow and underdeveloped. To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. Absolutely no one cares that Melissa is deuxmoi because Melissa is just a regular person, which is fine and honestly good for her if she were ever to decide to ditch/retire deuxmoi). For deuxmoi fans, this novel will be a solid extension of the brand's coming-of-age story, and they'll especially enjoy the inside jokes and liberal quotes from the real-life account, which helps create the tantalizing-yet-relatable tone.
