This doesn’t happen to me all that often, so it goes without saying, that I am definitely on board for book two, and can’t wait to see how this series shapes up. I respected her for the way she worked, but I also felt like perhaps, her ferocity kept her mind from wandering off down other roads.But, the body count just keeps piling up, however, unbeknownst to Kim, someone is watching her investigation very closely and if she gets too close to the truth, she could be the next murder victim. I like that the mystery manages to combine the current plot while providing a way for us to learn about Kim’s backstory. Detective Kim Stone fast realises she’s on the hunt for a twisted individual whose killing spree spans decades. I. Kim Stone, assigned to the case is on the hunt for a killer who’s been active for years, but in doing so she will have to come to terms with her own past. I loved these switches of narrative, and found myself itching to find out who would be next on the killer's list. En cierto sentido me ha recordado a otros libros que he leído hace tiempo, como los primeros libros de Patricia Gibney y su serie de la inspectora Lottie Parker donde toca el tema de orfanatos, abusos y niños desaparecidos, aunque este tiene un toque distinto.She first discovered her love of writing at junior school when actual lessons came second to watching other people and quietly making up her own stories about them. Digging the frozen earth beneath the layers of ice and snow had been like trying to carve stone but they’d taken turns. Every time I read a book by this author I feel that it's her best yet and A Daughter's Courage is no different.

She is left with scars, including minimal social skills, yet she has a deep burning desire to come to the aid of suffering innocents. Amongst my Goodreads friends I have only seen good comments on this author's books so I had to give her a try, starting with the first book in the series of course. This is the first book in the series and the first book I have read by this author and it will not be my last.

I’ve adapted my original review just a little but I do believe that first impressions count and my first impression of Silent Scream led to me giving it a mahoosive thumbs up.

I am not looking forward to the graphic child abuse scenes, but I agree, sometimes you have to read it to understand the character and their motivation.
