About this deal

I will be using a Pioneer 2600-BT head unit with subwoofer control, so that renders the LC-1 style redundant. EDIT - see the attached from the MS-A5001 manual, it's not in the MS8 manual as I originally thought.

Definitely don't want to wire up a headunit just to turn around and disconnect it after but I'm running out of options. If an EBC is connected to your amplifier, you are essentially bypassing the gain control inside the amplifier and running a wire to the external control known as the EBC. Properly set, it can enhance your listening experience by allowing you to adjust the bass response to your liking for different music genres or audio sources. This feature is especially useful for on-the-fly adjustments, allowing you to fine-tune the bass response based on the type of music or your listening preferences without accessing the amplifier's settings directly. Common installation locations include unused dash locations, inside the center console, or on the trim panel below the steering wheel.

Amp remote bass control knobs, also known as bass level controllers or bass remotes, are compact and user-friendly devices designed to give you precise control over the bass output of your car audio system. Whether you are a competitor or audio enthusiast, our products are guaranteed to deliver reliable performance for a stunning audio experience. Where you are in correct is in believing that the remote gain only controls the preset gain of the amp, this is in fact not true. Bassface produces a highly developed range of 12v automotive amplifiers that will allow you to power any audio system with ease.

when I use knobs for my punch amplifiers they were the gain type and they were proprietary Rockford Fosgate, is set the gain on amp with the knob just slightly back from all the way up, that way I could over ride the onboard gain with the knob a bit if I wanted to. if the gain at the amp is set for a safe unclipped level then there is nothing wrong with using the remote gain as a volume control. The knob allows you to turn it down from there without the risk of getting the gain higher than you can safely run it. and I dont want a million splitters and stuff I need to convert the headphone plug output from my computer to quad RCA since the amplifier takes two lefts and two right channels in RCA inputs and I have the amplifier in bridged mode for two subwoofers. Until all recording studios use the same standards in their methods which probably includes the same monitors, room, etc, I wouldn't get tied up in a knot over trying to recreate what the studio sounds like. The only thing that reduces the noise is turning the LPF all the way down (to the left) and/or turning the gain down.
