This is a good book for the beginner budget gardener but there are some things where being cheap will cost you in the long run. This book was worth reading simply for the fact that I now understand how important compost is if you want to grow your own food cheaply.

The chapters on growing certain crops are only semi relevant for US-based readers because the timings, types of pests, etc. I did notice that the author often recommends repurposing plastic items for planting seedlings, storing water, lining pots, etc. Within each chapter are lots of sections offering information on everything from creating your own containers to compost recipes.
