If you think prostitutes are that filthy and unworthy, well, guess what, you went to them, so you're much, much worse! Michael Hosea was the true angel in this story for the number of times he forgave Angel’s transgressions and painful, ongoing betrayal. And in this case, I don't mean that Jesus is an important figure in the characters' lives or that their belief system informs their decisions. The violence in the novel is treated the same way and I think it’s a disservice not to “show” the reader what the author is seeing.

They two truly start a new life together, and in the epilogue, it is said that Michael and Sarah later had four children. Back to the darkness, away from her husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth she can no longer deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael Hosea does…the One who will never let her go.Angel begins to develop affectionate feelings towards Michael, which she cannot comprehend because she has never allowed herself to love any man because she still believes "God's truth. FYI: If devout believers who see God in everything as well as true faith being the only way to find happiness in life bother you, you may want to pass on this book.

It is all about redemption, in the end, it is God’s one true love that is Angel’s salvation and redemption.Shortly after becominga born-again Christian in 1986, Francine wrote Redeeming Love as her statement of faith.

And sure, even though Angel couldn't have children, she ended up having them because I guess God reversed whatever that "doctor" did to her to make sure she never got pregnant again. Back to the darkness she is familiar with, away from her husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth she can no longer deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael Hosea does…the One who will never let her go.

I think the struggles that Angel and Micheal battle with are real to every person, which is why so many people identify with the book. He is furious that he came looking, and starts making up excuses to give Miriam so that he does not have to hurt her by telling her Angel is a prostitute. This is a book that I will probably find myself reading over and over again until it simply falls apart at the seams. Paul thinks Michael married Angel out of blind lust without knowing she was a prostitute, unaware that Michael knows the truth and loves her anyway.

There, in a moment of desperation, she regains the faith she lost after her mother's death and tells the audience about Duke's sexual trafficking of young girls.

A. Dowd criticized the love story as "icky", saying it "hinges on a fundamental power imbalance: Angel literally can't say no to Michael's evening visits. Angel and Michael's connection stands as a pure example of love in its most honest and unconditional state. I didn't mind the way God's voice was written in this book, however, and I thought it was clever how what I assume was the devil took the voice of Angel's abuser. I kind of feel like god would have the graphic design sense to have his own font, but what do I know? For starters, if there was a god who literally spoke to me and told me that a particular person was "the one" that would simplify things quite a bit.
