About this deal

Alfgifu of Northampton did not want to admit that she was nervous, but when she saw the Viking encampment looming ahead, her fear burned in her stomach until she could not ignore it. And if all that wasn’t torturous enough, he had to tarry while listening to the wet splash of Godwin urinating. His brother was Brihtric, uncle of Wulfnoth Cild, who was the son of Aethelmaer se Greata (usually translated as "the Great", but more correctly "the Fat".

During Canute's reign, Eadric accompanied the Queen consort Emma of Normandy, widow of Ethelred and wife of Canute, to the Duchy of Normandy.

Although loyal to Ethelred, he had a personal enmity towards Ethelred's son, Edmund Ironside, who favoured a confrontational policy towards the Danes, while Eadric was a major proponent of the payment of Danegeld and the opportunities for corruption it offered. Edmund then succeeded in rescuing London from the invaders, driving Eadric and Cnut out of the city and defeating them after crossing the Thames at Brentford; but he suffered heavy losses. It has a fantasy novel feel and pace to it and while that may not be a detriment to me, as I read fantasy novels and enjoy the genre, it may be bothersome to some readers expecting a higher level of writing.

And because this is Anglo-Saxon England with a definite hint of the Dane about it – the story ends in a way that makes Game of Thrones look positively restrained – Ædric’s body was thrown over city wall and left to rot. Fans of Bernard Cornwell, Georgette Heyer, Ken Follet ("Pillars of the Earth"), and Baroness Orczy ("The Scarlet Pimpernel") will especially enjoy the style of this swashbuckling historical fiction.Eadric the Grasper by Jayden Woods brings homicidal Vikings, ferocious lovers, and frequent murder most foul to brilliant life in literary 3D.

The sixteen-year-old king had grown to fit his beautifully embroidered boots, and the crown seemed to glitter more brightly on his auburn-haired head than it ever had on their father’s. It is believed that Eadric had the intention of betraying Edmund, but when their forces came together he could not. At some point Ædric managed to separate Ælehelm from the rest of group and the town butcher who was also, very conveniently the town executioner, bumped him off. An agreement was reached that England would be split in half at the Thames, Canute in the North and Edmund in the South. In the struggle between the English and the Danes, Eadric Streona appears in the character of an arch-traitor.
