About this deal

It is one of those stories where I put it down, and couldn’t stop thinking about it so I had to pick it up again. This FMC is a truly distasteful person, in both her behavior and character, and combined with the single-sided POV, the writing was hard to stay focused on. For she knows that ghosts wander Ashwood Forest until the royal family sends them into the afterlife.

Ok, here’s the deal…I generally liked the book, so maybe more than 3 stars, and I know it’s YA, so I also understand the general angstiness of the female protagonist, but OMG! The day of Grace's wedding, Ellie makes a split-second decision to save her older sister from marrying the dark and broody crown prince, Fitz and hides herself under the magical veil, marrying him instead. it had everything i loved about the cruel prince and everything i look for in a fantasy romance but with no spice and i loved it. And the key to her salvation might be her arrogant, cold husband—the one she’d planned to rob and abandon.Dive into this new world where danger and drama is always around the corner and even those closest to you can't be trusted. But once we entered Brytwilde I understood the reasons why Schade started the story the way she did. I enjoyed going on the journey with these two as they slowly started to tear down the barriers placed around their hearts. This a loose retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and the author does a good job of being faithful to that story.

The h barely even thinks about the H, she’s so consumed with her mission of finding her father and then the whole thing with Cordelia. I just can't put into words how much I enjoyed reading this and I am so excited to see what other stories we get to enjoy from this world.

The characters, the mystery, the slow burn tension, and world building are immersive and spell bounding. This book definitely lived up to the expectations that I created after watching all of Rachel's marketing reels (if you do not follow her on Instagram, please do).

It times this meant that I was kind of frustrated with Elle, because the actual villain was RIGHT THERE and I get that she doubted Fitz more easily because Reid was her family's friend and a human to boot.NOTE: other restrictions can be a result of our security platform detecting potential malicious activity. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Schade was born on the first day of summer in a small town in Michigan, only to end up in another small town in Ohio. As Elle navigates a kingdom of monsters and tragic secrets, she realizes she might not survive to save her family. I don't think there's going to be a direct sequel either, but hopefully we get to see more of Elle and Fitz in Schade's future books.

When I first started the book, it felt almost like a carbon copy and not loose, and I was worried for how the magic system would come into play. I am more of the slow-burn type girl so when Fitz was the first to declare his feelings for Elle it had thrown me for a bit. As any good character inspired by Darcy should be, Fitz is equal parts broody and devotedly fierce to the ones he loves.Which I personally am a big fan of because a lot of fae in books are very civilized and nice (not that I don’t enjoy that as well) but it was great to see the more brutal/savage side of the fae. I may have to give this book a reread in the fall to truly feel like I am in Ashwood with the autumn fae. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Cause, sometimes it seemed to be very extravagant (like, faes could hear everything from very far away and other times it seemed like they didn't), but it wasn't a big deal to me.
