I knew as soon as I saw the synopsis for this one, it was going to be my favorite Kristen Granata to date. The mental health side of it is wonderful and gives an insight of how they see their problems and I liked that. But when danger unexpectedly strikes, James is helpless to stop it as Phoenix gets caught in the crossfire. This books illustrates that perfectly in a way that made me see what life in the future could be like. But Nix hasn’t told James everything about her struggles and she fears that the truth, the darkness of her mental health, may push him away for good.

Rough language is super hard for me to listen to, but I also understand the world we live in is rough. Like all of Kristen Granata’s work it tackles really difficult topics with so much grace and accuracy. It made it feel never ending and from one problem to the next there wasn't enough time always to really see the effects. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data.It's that older kid syndrome; when the weight amd responsibility is thrown on you within your asking, and you become afraid of disappointing those around you.

I did enjoy the way James goes from being a bit of a grump to warming up to Phoenix in all the right ways. I was surprised by how transparent this book was about mental health, you don’t see that a lot in books today. Kristen created two pieces of one same heart that fit their cracked spots together so perfectly in every way. I loved the mental health dedications and all of it but the romance was unnecessary and I didn’t personally enjoy it. When she's not teaching or writing, Kristen is reading, tripping over something, indulging in her messy obsession with popcorn, and forever singing along to The Greatest Showman soundtrack.

James and Nix recognise something in each other that most people can’t understand, connecting on a soul-deep level which is further enhanced by their attraction to each other.
